For a twentysomething minute TT?

Don't be silly, If Im fresh enough I reckon I can put out closer to 350w. But... we'll see...

You should KNOW whether you can put out closer to 350w if you've been testing properly

Well I can safely and categorically state that I can't. :)

Thread hijack alert!

I will go as hard as poss  (easy), not done any TTing for a while as i have been consentraiting on longer hilly stuff in prep for the dragon ride.
It will be interesting to see what a different type of training has done to my "form"

Yes thats all very well and good in practice, but in the real world of racing all the time, you don't really do much testing. Whats the point? It's results that count, the powertap is just a guide for training!

However, when I did my last test at Kent, which was the day after a race in which I put out bang on 300w for 60mins. The expert reckoned that somehwere between 325-340w should not be un-attainable. So I shall be looking do average about 320w for the first half of the TT, then push on and try to up it to 360w from the turn...

However, the caveat is... I won't be losing any sleep over it! I will prepare for it as I would a normal RR though, so I should be fairly on form. That said I have developed a little bit of a cold over the past couple of days. But I think I can shed it by Tuesday...

Good 'tis only a 10, you could do worse yourself Adam as you're easily strong enough not to have any problems dying and it could give you a nice test bed. If you're doing any more of the evening 10s you can then base them on what happened on Tuesday.

Back to topic -
Have to rack the old brainbox, as my best rides were early 1960s … As I recall, Paul’s tips are pretty good. As he implies, forget the “just surviving” attitude – a timetrial is a RACE. From my own past experience, the 100-mile scheduling he points up is about right, though maybe after you have had some experience of this distance. As a newcomer, perhaps allow a schedule about 6 - 8 minutes longer. Although recent novice George would perhaps disagree with such softie thoughts! But then, who’d be able follow his example?
