How are you supposed to measure your hr after doing severe sprinting or intervals or whatever? Should you stop what you are doing immediately after the sprint, get off the bike and relax to see how fast you can bring the hr down?
Or should you freewheel then carry on cycling doing an easy spin?
Someone once told me that you should not stop immediately after a big effort, it was really bad for you....don't know why though.
Er if you're trying to see how quickly your heart rate falls I'd start measurement as soon as you've finished the intensive effort (got to the top of box hill etc). Just spin along easily rather than stopping.
