Might (sorry, almost certainly will) become a bit of a burn up toward the end of the return leg but no-one's dropped before they know where they are, i.e. not until on CR route in reverse or similar.

Have fun 8)

Are you getting carried away and think you know the route Mr Green  :?: :?: Have I got a surprise for you:D :D :D :D :D

Only as an example PVT, I wouldn't begin to try and guess the route in advance. I won't be there though this time.

I bet you're bloody glad too now aren't you. Have you seen the profile for the proposed course change if the A3 is wet.

Thank you for your PM Mr PVT.

I have a couple of energy bars from GB when I picked my bike up today.
Energy drink will also be in my bottles.
Cash will be keeping me in supplies for the rest.

Carbon Fibre bucket and spade packed.
Thanks Marek, but that sounds like a bit of effort to me....!!!!!!!!!!

I have arranged to leave CSS at 9:00am, so will get to Brighton around 11:30/12:00 if you want to meet us there - we will be on the lower level by the pier, to your right as you approach the pier along A23.

Planning on heading back up via Steyning, Partridge Green, Mannings Heath, so could then divert across to Turners Hill

What - no Devils Dyke, no through those merciless draggy lanes lanes up to Colgate and no Rusper climb in reverse? Tsk, tsk Mr Tunnell a poor show all round.

Oh my god where do I start. 105.2 miles

Paul Mr Pvt Constant and steady and strong

Sylv Man and machine as one, super smooth and fit

Marky Mark Must try harder but happy with distance

I had such a good day with 2 of the most patient people.

I can not thank both for the support you gave me on our Saturday Epic Marathon (mentally and physically), I forced a stop on the way home due there being a communication problem between my brain and heart saying pedal, the legs reply was 'not on your nelly Marky'.

The ride down there I think averaged over 18 sort of cross wind assisted, nice cafe with views of the pier, time to fill up with beer chips energy bars etc.

THEN WE HAD TO RIDE HOME, that's when the trouble started. Wind assisted time trial to Shoreham then turned right into the hills and valleys of the South of England.

I seemed to be riding a 30 stone bike every time I tried to go up hill, I seemed to be OK on the flats, but the hills knocked the crap out of me. Even with the hand of god(s) on me pushing me.

Paul and Sylv you are true gentlemen for staying with me that day, I could NOT of finished that run if I was on my own. I felt so low when I hit the 'wall' at about 73 miles  . I am sorry for slowing things down even though you said it was OK and it wasn't a race.

I got through that bad patch after our stop and had the goal of the 100 egging me on. What a feeling that was just between Hooley and Coulsdon the magic 100 miles. :D :D :D :D :D :D

My goal when I started cycling this year was to maybe try to ride London to Brighton.......... Smashed that one.

Wont bore you with stats but here's a few
Distance = 105.2 miles :D
Calories used = 7687 8)
Max HR = 243 I can't explain that one (ref climb position at the Beacon) that's why I walked
Av HR = 157 :)
Total Ascent = 6347 ft :o
Max Speed = 49.47 mph (faster than Sylve cos I'm fatter LOL)

To sum up.

I loved the day
Only one flat tyre (Paul wins that one)
I'm proud of what I done
The ride is harder than it sounds
I owe Sylv and Paul lots of beer and cake one day (I won't forget)
I feel stronger for that ride
Everyone I know is shocked that I done it
I am over the moon for doing it
Stayed awake for a friend Barby which started 15 minutes after finishing the ride
Round of golf Sunday and won
Mountain bike ride Monday cancelled due to bad weather
Paul Has a lovely new house
Sylv is the smoothest rider I have ever seen (PS he is not human and needs new batteries every week  )
31st 10TT will be my PB
Sylve going up and down the Beacon TWICE was out of this world

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you

:D Marky MArk :D

Hey well done again Mark and here's to many more centuries

I was doing 49 myself down that hill to Brighton and you certainly looked a lot faster than that when you went past!

In fact one thing that I noticed was how (for a relative beginner) you were not afraid of speed on the downhills. I have seen more experienced riders being a lot more cautious (this is a compliment). There were moments we were all three riding pretty close to each other on those fast swoopy descents :D you should be ok at Palace then!

Congratulations Marky, I wondered where you'd got to, if you were still sleeping  .

Top bloke who's not afraid to have a go, and really shy and retiring  .

You are bang on that on the first stab it's harder than it sounds, I always think that your first 100 mile ride (and Brighton and back is a good one for it) is a landmark. You can ride 70 miles on a CR each week and think it's not that much further, but there is always a point just after that on your first long ride that your body seems to ask what the hell you think you're playing at. You can rest assured now that other long rides and C-B-Cs will come easier as you know you can do it. There seems to be some kind of mental boundary that gets broken.

I bet that Garmin print has pride of place on your wall :D .

See you on Saturday at some unGodly hour, but heh it's only 10 miles - See you at the sign-on.

P.S. You didn't get that trophy made up for yourself did you  .
