...to come from a sunlounger to beat the cream of the Italian ranks that have been preparing solely for the Giro is just class, pure class.

Don't be suprised if he goes and wins the Vuelta in September either!

Admit he's a classy looking rider but hoped he wouldn't win as he's riding for Team Dodgy. Remarkable good time triallist for a climber, even beats specialists on flat courses .

- Not allowed to start Tour as linked with OP when with Liberty Seguros.
- Refused to do a DNA test to prove innocence.
- Signed for Disco while under suspicion (and then they signed Basso, nice ethics policy).
- Named again as having been involved with Puerto by more than one person.
- Moves to Astana with Bruyneel, more than a whiff around him and them.

...and then wins the Giro without having prepared for it, beating top riders who been preparing specifically for that one race.

Astana should never have been allowed in the Giro. How can they claim they are a new team with new management so no connection, that's exactly what they said last year and then a number of their riders and stuffed with drugs and other people's blood. Also a number of links, including riders, between all three variations of Astana.

Well, yes... but, can we keep not dismissing a riders because of un-confirmed rumours?

There are plenty of other riders who he beat that I would have hated to see win! Can you tell me that Simoni, Ricco, Di Luca, Sella etc etc, are all absolutely clean? From what I have heard from a rider who has been there, and done it, Italy is/was one of the absolute worst places for doping. And I mean from junior level up as well. Having said that, the very same man also said Spain was as bad. So who knows.

Anyhow, at least he beat that gob-shjte Ricco. What a fool he is sometimes. Now I open my mouth a fair bit myself, but never to the extent he does. The accusations he makes!! He does make me laugh!

I remember reading an interview with another rider, unfortunately can't remember who now, and they said (paraphrasing), "why does he (LA) always go about how he's been out riding the mountains being used in a Tour. We all do, do people think we just turn up and look at them for the first time on the stage".
