Sat's (7th June) JFF Ride

Postby Toks » Thu Jun 05, 2008 2:03 pm

Hi peeps, I've been asked the following via email

Do the JFF riders complete the full club run route ~40miles?

What time will they get to the cafe assuming 9.30am start?

Will there be help with punctures?

I went with John Cz and his "Super 15s" once to take some piccies for Marco and imagine the format would be very similar for the JFF as the group rode at the pace of the slowest rider (were a couple of first timers that week).

I believe they do a full (shortened) route (probably 35-40miles tops CSS-CSS). Cut through earlier to the cafe rather than the drag lanes up to Partridge and Rusper.

Not sure but normally one of the later groups arriving. John Cz groups his gang together for the return leg shortly after others have pelted off down the road so they still have a JFF group going back. They aren't hurried along to shovel in the toast to be pointed to George or Marek and told to hang on to their wheel  .

Yes certainly, also regrouped if anyone needs a quick breather after a hill or to check all are okay.

Yes go for it. I'll be riding with a mate, taking it easy in prep for the Nocturne in the evening. My slowest club run ever. I look forward to it :D

That has to have been one of the most pleasurable rides with ACC ever. John Cz is a true motivator and if he can't get you up and riding a bike believe me no one can. I came down from North London with a good mate, Neelam. She was a little apprehensive but we'd been on a couple of 12/13mph rides so I knew we'd be just fine. Despite running 5-10mins late the group waited for us (parking around CSS ain't easy). John Cz explained a little bit about the route and positioned John the old'n up front while he marshalled things from the back.

The ride featured - Stephanie (15's next girl!), Lorraine, 2 Johns, a fella who's Grandfather was one of ACC's founding father, some other very agreeable folk and a phenomenon known as really great weather. :D Unfortunately Neelam managed to get herself a puncture on the descent just before the cafe. A replacement inner tube was somehow not quite up to the job so Mr Green Senior came to the rescue. Problem sorted at least temporarily. Everybody arrived at the Cafe in good shape and myself and Roy ensured this remained by keeping the pace the same on the way back. Neelam had a blast and said she really enjoyed herself. Stephanie was so motivated after the ride that she went home had a snack and shot back out to the Smithfield Nocturne. Then on Sunday went and rode in Richmond Park. :D Great stuff thanks again John - a real professional job sir!
