Box Hill Resurfaced...

Postby -Adam- » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:40 pm

Oh no wait, it's just this bike is just so damn smooth I didn't even realise the tarmac was rough 8)

This bike is unreal. Light, really stiff (although maybe not so stiff as the Soloist SL I conned some of you with in Feb) and just BLING! Oh an did I mention every road feels like its been resurfaced!?

(Yes, those are the seemingly rare white FSA bars and stem... BLING!)

Oh wait, and when I'm not riding one day classics, it looks like this...

Nope, I think you can have too much white. Depending on how it wears, I may well switch to black tape and saddle after a while, but we'll see...

Looks nice, apart from the groupset obviously  . Campag Record or Chorus carbon would go lovely in the black and white theme :D .

Bars and stem go well but I think you're right about having too much white, Black saddle and bartape would look really nice and classy. The Stella Azzurra bartape - black with the white "thread" would be stunning on it.

Nice. Oh well, from a practical point of view, cleaning it will be a pain, that white bar tape especially

Good trick with the title, now that would have impressed me no end as well.

Well yes, I have spent more time cleaning it so far than actually riding it, but there you go.

Cleaning white tape? Well, depends on the tape. The stuff on this is specialized, which picks up the dirt much easier than fizik tape, which is unfortunately less comfortable. So pay your money and take your choice! A bit of muc-off, or degreaser, on some kitchen roll usually gets the worst off anyhow.

Rob, black and red is sooooo last year

Oh and if you're a burgular reading this, I have a very large dog, and a baseball bat, and have laid some anti-personel land mines just for you!!

Use muc off wipes after every ride.

I've also been using white spirit first to remove stubborn dirt then the muc off whipes aferwards to remove the horrible smell.

Nope, thats what the 9mm automatic's for

My ones bigger than yours :P

On the bars, are they the FSA Wing Pro, they look really cool, I went for black tape, have tried out white tape before on my Pinarello and it just started to look grimy. Good to hear that you are enjoying it already, it took me a few rides to get into it, but now I love it. Are you going to cut down the forks or have you left so you can alter the reach if it is not quite right.

Also, I have a mate who is interested in buying a set of Zipp 404's, I seem to remember you had some issues with yours, do you think he should go for them or should he go for something else.

p.s. I know the red tyres look a bit cack but I ran out of dosh.

Cheers

Marek....
