Thanks to Jon, Joyce, Tim etc for last night. Cracking turnout with a whole host of peeps making a late decision to dip their toe or reacquaint themselves with this particular brand of masochism :D . Bit blowy on the way back eh, pretty pleased with my time as it's a course PB and indicates the time I did in the Southern Counties 10 wasn't a complete fluke  .

Mike joined Rob T in riding "classic" on fixed, Ian P resplendent in a sloth pointy hat - honest  , and 5 ladies - don't forget the Jack n' Jill in 2 weeks time(details in General section).

All topped off with a nice warm long sleve retro jersey from Joyce, who was doing a good trade on her old kit. Got to do it justice now though everyone who bought one, Joyce was one speedy lady.

Yeah Good ride by Jon C, closing back up on Sam. I told him in the carpark before the start not to make Tim's life so easy working out his handicap this time  .

Well done to you all, some really good times posted up there. :D

Thats a great way to try and learn some names, Stand on the start line with the starting sheet and shout at people.

Well it was good while it lasted and I can still remember at least 5 names

Many many many agreeable thanks to Andrew again for being my driver for the night, you're a true gent.

We passed someone (ACC) on the way home, just going across a level crossing attached to a hill that seemed to go on and on and on and on and on, well done that man.

What a thoroughly agreeable evening.

Working at home yesterday, so decided to make the most of the early evening sunshine 8) and head out through Wallington and Banstead to Epsom Downs and then Headley Wood and then to Holmwood.

Had a good chat with a few people, offered encouragement for the Dragon Ride and managed to pick up some more retro cool from Joyce for rather less than the £120 she had suggested earlier.

With an extra layer and some arm-warmers, it was back through the lanes and over Box Hill in the fading light. I realised I would be back home rather later than planned as a barn owl (they look a bit like this  ) swooped across the road in front of me. I reached the street-lighting before it got properly dark though and was home and tucked up in bed with a post-ride cocoa before closing time.

The only thing that spoiled it all was having to thrash up and down the A24 - including the new 'off-road' section - in the middle of it.

Yeah, came as a bit of a shock that - in more ways than one. Handy it's on a drag up too just to make keeping the speed up that bit more fun  .

My time was improved but i think the pusher 'Andy' had shall we say 'sticky fingers' and I think I could have done a sub 27 with someone a bit more professional, can we hire someone for the next race :?
