Looks a good choice Adrian. I've not seen it, but the plot sounds similar to an excellent book I've read, but alas can't remember the name of.

If you're looking for some good films to while away the sleepless nights, whilst not destroy your mind with BB, then the Argentinian film "Bombón: El Perro" is quite good - saw it at the Clocktower/David Lean in Croydon (they get some good films). And of course there's the Italian classic "The Bicycle Thieves".

Failing that just stick on "Jamon Jamon" and drool over Penelope Cruz :P

Yes, liked Bombón El Perro a lot. Not so Jamón Jamón (even though at the time I was living very near to where it was filmed) - never been a fan of La Cruz, although I did like her in Volver. Generally speaking I'd rather just have the tortilla de cebolla

Thread hijack alert! But it's given me an idea about which team to follow in Euro 2008.

Here at Ingram Towers, we can trace our ancestry back to Germany, Sweden, Holland and, er Bermuda (didn't qualify for geographical and sporting reasons).

I've never seen a decent German film, and the only Dutch film I can recall is the hilariously titled 'Transsexual Horse Lover, Part IV' (seen in a shop window in Amsterdam, honest). So, Sweden it is ...

Ah Bergman, always a chuckle-fest. I'm supporting Portugal for financial reasons, I've got them in the office sweepstake.

You probably already get the catalogue, but moviemail do some good films at good prices.

I wonder if Ian's checked in lately to see how we've managed to haul the level of conversation up by its bootstraps.

What? You bloody heathen Ingram

Lock yourself away with a few crates of beer and these DVD's

Aguirre Wrath of God
Fitzcaraldo
Tin Drum
Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders - not the rubbishy Nicolas Cage Hollywood remake)
Metropolis
Nosferatu
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari
Das Boot

And don't come out until you've got square eyes - I'll be testing you on them

Sincerely hope so. Although my joy would be tinged with regret that I'd turned my nose up at the 12/1 Mr Ladbroke offered me before the tournament

Yes. Then you're ready to move on to the other two parts of the trilogy

In short, once you've factored in time for hygiene, sustenance and perspective breaks, you're not getting much change out of a fortnight.

I'd forgotten about Tin Drum.

Mind you, I'd need more than a few beers to see me through Der Himmel uber Berlin again.

Anyone know what's happening in the BB house? Ian?
