surrey league 5 day jaunts

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

surrey league 5 day jaunts

right so im in !

ive been training specifically for it for about a month now. doing long blocked training sessions from 3-4-5 days, and been doing a number of more intense rides (like going in hard groups for the handicaps), so ill be ok for the time trial.

the race starts next friday- so my plan is to ride this weekend hard-

today i did a 1.5 hour blast round box hill a couple of times, then tomorrow i nice hard training group ride, and sunday ill do a less intense 3 hours chug along.

ill rest all the other days, apart from thursday when i will go out for a very light 1.5 hours, perhpaps putting in a few 10 second sprint efforts.

sound allright to any experienced people?

stu

what are you going to be doing adam?

Very easy CR tomorow, Giles Ree Memorial on Sunday, rest Monday, Ride to work Tuesday then return via Palace giving a very good 60+ miles of training. Wednesday... probably rest. Thursday I shall try to do a very easy 90mins in the evening. Then race...

The past few days have been 3 hours this morning, steady. Race last night. 3 hours on Wednesday with a few hard climbs (Ewhurst recce). Tues, 90mins steadyish AM, then the evening 10 PM. Mon 45mins easy.

I feel good. Looking forward to the Jaunts but am realistic about my chances of a decent GC position. I shall be riding for stages, but if the GC becomes a factor to me then I will ride accordingly. Remember there are some very experienced guys in the Jaunts who are looking very very strong right now, Jerone Walters, Ben Wilson, Andy Davies etc...

Stu, it sounds good, make sure you are well rested when you arrive on the line, get some early nights in a couple of days before and make sure you eat heartily this week.

Good luck with the race, you seem to recover well so expect you will be ok.

Cheers

Marek....

Personally Stu I'd make the sunday ride just a steady non intensive two hours; also I'd ride on the wednesday, perhaps in the evening for a comfortable/steadish 60 mins and perhaps throw in a 10minute TT/race pace effort just to remind the body about what will becoming up 48 hours later. After 3 whole days off the bike (Monday, tuesday, and wednesday) I think I may loose a bit of sharpness without it. Apart from that it looks good :D :D
