Boonen is back

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Wed Jun 18, 2008 8:38 am

Wasn't sure how I would recover from Sunday's ride t Brighton and back, but turned out just fine....

First few laps with 3rd cat vets and I seemed to be at the front most of the time, especially on the "into the wind" section, and we soon caught the 4th cats and women, making a larger group so had a bit of an easier time, then 4 laps in (out of 12) the 2nd cats caught us, and very soon after, the scratch group and the pace went up but with a large field, pretty much stayed intact.

kept out of trouble on the last lap by riding near the front (Dave Kennett tried hard to get away but was reeled in every time) and went through a gap that another rider claimed wasn't there :P but I got through so guess it must have been and found myself near the front, opening up with 200m to go, I expected a surge down the right hand side, but it didn't happen, and I finished 4th in the bunch sprint (unfortunately 9 riders had sneaked off earlier so ended up 13th), and had really good strong legs at the end.

Wow! Paul "Boonen" Tunnel has actually blessed us with a race report. With your recent TT success and the impressive amount of work you did on Sunday's Coulsdon-Brighton-Coulsdon ride you've got good form at the mo, chapeau. Or as us forty pluses like to say. Good job Dude! :D

Was that at Dunsfold, Paul?

As an aside - what website / forum is the best place to pick up RR results these days? London Cycle Sport used to be good - but is not being regularly updated. I like to keep my finger on the pulse of who is doing what in the local races. For instance, I was interested to know what happened in the Giles Ree Event from Sunday. It's usually a hard-fought, tough event - but no results anywhere that I can find!

Well done Paul.

Yes what race was it in, makes life difficult for results collators  .

Tony - It has got a bit tricky of late. LCS seems to have slowed right down with only a fraction of the results and pictures that used to go on there. Is is a bit of a one-man-band operation though, so maybe otehr things have halted it a bit lately.

SL and SERRL sites do put the results up but tend to be a few days later, I also get emails of results from SL. Do BC not put all the results up? A bit much to hope from the governing body I know.
