Dave accident

Postby Alan M » Tue Jun 17, 2008 4:43 pm

Many of you will know Dave - he came to Mallorca with us this year - well this morning I came across him surrounded by medics and being treated at the side of the road. It was at the second mini roundabout after Chipstead Valley Road where he had been hit by a car emerging from the left, obviously without right of way.

Dave was in some pain but was being well looked after and soon he was stabilised and and vacuum packed and taken to East Surrey Hospital. He was met there by his son and I have since learned that he has a broken pelvis and is awaiting a scan on his hip.

The accident seems to have been witnessed and a very kind builder working on a house nearby took charge of Dave's belongings including his new bike, which as far as I could see only had one spoke broken.

I am sure you will join with me in wishing Dave well - as I understand it he could be out of hospital quite quickly and would probably stay with his son in Kent while he recovers. Understandably he is quite despondent at the moment.

that sounds painful. hope he makes a quick recovery.

that roundabout is awful. cars are always pulling out in front of me there, and ive had a few near misses. cars just pull out of there without looking.

Welcome to the Addiscombe Crashing Club Dave, Please get well soon and I hope the road to recovery is not too long for you.

I hope the person who done this to you gets what is coming to them  . I hate to hear about any of us having an accident.

It sounds like you are getting looked after in a good hospital. Thanks for letting us know Alan.

Good luck Dave, Best Wishes Marky Mark

Bl**dy hell. I was out this morning with Grahame and we went past the accident while the ambulance was there.
Obviously totally unaware what had happened or who was involved.
Really sorry to hear the bad news.
Good luck for a full and speedy recovery Dave.

I spoke to Dave again this afternoon - he seems OK but awaiting the results of a scan on his hip. I think recovery could be a lengthy process so he is pretty fed up. If anyone wants his mobile number then send me a pm.

" recovery could be a lengthy process so he is pretty fed up.... "

:(

I know that it can be difficult to feel positive at times like this, but it's worth remembering that things could have always been worst, and that the day of full recovery will eventually arrive. Get well soon.
