Another good result for Mr. Cotterill. Looks like it was a bunch gallop. Jaco was a first cat a couple of seasons back and is a very strong rider when at his best. Not sure where he has been the last few seasons - maybe back in South Africa.

Just think, Stu, if you hadn't gone ill, you could have been Adam's leadout man! He may even have won in that case....

Is there a points jersey this year?

No points jersey unfortunately Tony, not sure I'd be in it even if there was one though, Jaco and a few others have been up there consistently...

The day was not without incident however. Halfway through the race was neutralised because of some horses on the course. At the time there was a break about 20s up on the bunch, with a few guys that got thru just before the horses went mental. Somehow they managed to convince the commisaire to remain in the break when the race was re-started. Which left a large number of riders in the bunch somewhat less than impressed. I was actually ok about it at the time, as I was fairly confident we'd bring thekm back. Then... disaster! Well, almost, basically the guy in front of me seemed incapable of getting his feet clipped in. As a result he stopped and I ended up on the floor. Hmmm. So with blood pouring down my right knee I set about a furious McEwen/Cavendish style pursuit of, firstly the man who brought me down, and then the break. Which was duly caught.

My team mate John then got in a break which lasted until the last lap, which allowed me to hide in the bunch with no obligation to work.

The circuit was slightly different than billed, and was the Staplefield circuit I think. With the finish just around a sharp left turn, just past the Victory pub. Dave K told me if I wanted to win I had to be top three through that last corner. So third I was, round Kevin Knox into 2nd, but I just couldn't gain on Jaco who led through the corner. But fair play, if he's a former 1st cat he's clearly a good deal more experienced than myself. Although of course my excuse is the damage to my knee, that could have easily made the difference, all it takes is 1 or 2 percent, right.

However, I still need time... Gotta make it into the top 10 on GC tomorow, bring it on!

Yeay! Well done Adam.

I know I can sometimes be a little gushing with my reports or praise but this guy quite literally seems to have had the time of his life. Aw Bless :D -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What an amazing 5 days of racing.

A wonderful win by Kevin today and much deserved. So much so that several riders including Richard Hoult (the overall winner) said to me how much Kevin deserved it.

For me it was another tense affair. I had to do so much work at the front to chase any dangerous breaks got away and nicking my GC position.

After clawing back an early break Richard Hoult and myself with some timely help from Craig especially, kept the tempo as high as possible there by reducing the chances of mutual rivals from getting way.

In the end I felt I rode one of my best races today, always making it difficult for my rivals to get away and making it even more difficult on the climbs by putting the hammer down.

Overall the 5 day race has been an incredible experience. I truly have had the time of my life.

What a team, we collectively rode so well; I think it is fair to say we dominated the race. Again Richard Hoult praised our overall strength and amazing teamwork. I think that is one reason why he was so willing to do so much work with us over the last 2 days.

Unlike any other team (it seemed) after every race we all got together and talked about what had happened, congratulated each other and motivated ourselves for the next days race.

I lost count at the amount of times people congratulated the team after a stage.

I overheard several riders from other teams comment on how much of a team we looked. I think our performance both on and off the road has done the club proud.

From a personal perspective I am so grateful for all the work the team did for me over the days. Whenever I needed some help then someone was there to give me a welcome breather. And the teamwork on Sunday was truly amazing.

Without meaning to over dramatise the event, I can honestly say that winning the stage on Leith Hill was something I will remember for the rest of my life.

So to Craig, Oscar, Kevin and Simon I want to give my sincerest gratitude for all your help and to say what an absolute honour and privilege it has been to both ride with you and be part of the same team as you guys over the last five day.

It truly has been emotional.
