ACC Norwood Paragon Interclub TT 08/07/08

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

ACC Norwood Paragon Interclub TT 08/07/08

Postby Tim Coales » Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:10 am

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
Tuesday 8th July at 7.30pm (yes, really Jon's checked the handbook for me)
Forget racing at the Palace for a week - we NEED to win the interclub trophy back.
Only the times from the fastest 6 riders in each club count, but we also want to show them how many riders we can field!

This is a sporting (hilly) course, NOT the usual North Holmwood one.:
GS/335 Course Details:
Start in mouth of Waterhouse Lane at its westernmost junction with A25. Left and follow A25 through Bletchingley and over motorway bridge to junction with Coopers Hill Road. Left and follow Coopers Hill Road under railway and motorway bridges. Continuing south, Coopers Hill Road leads into Prince of Wales Road, which then becomes Dayseys Hill and finally Rookery Hill. Follow Rookery Hill to T junction with Chapel Road. (mainly downhill :D )
Left into Normans Road which leads into Scott's Hill. Follow Scott's Hill northwards past Outwood Mill. Continue northwards, now in Outwood Lane, to Finish at 30 mph signs at top of hill on both sides of the road shortly before first houses and approximately 530 yards before T junction with A25 in Bletchingley. (mainly uphill  )

Entries to Jon Hemming ASAP please: post here, PM, or email

If you're not up for competing, come out in club kit and support our riders especially on the run back up from Outwood.

The return bit of this circuit has a nice rolling section, but also has some rougher road surface so keep an eye out for the odd pothole and cracked tarmac - nothing bad but keep an eye out.

2 hills on the way back - 1st one, keep an eye out for the toads sign as that is where the brow is so you can judge it (if your not just going flat out all the way obviously). The 2nd hill never seems as long as I expect it to be and with the finish on it you can bury yourself safe in the knowledge there is a verge just after that you can lay down on and throw up :| .

Only three??/

felt like a lot more than that.

I'll help out by loading the times for teams into the spreadsheet that I have ready - please let me have names in advance.

Please put me down - number 1 so that I can get back and put the times in the spreadsheet - not that I'll be back first

yeah but only one of them's a bother (scotts hill) and it's not too long. the second is just a bit of a lump to stand up and push over, the last as Andrew said is up to the finish so you can just bury yourself in it and not worry about going any further.... (except for the two lap sportive when ok it's a bit of a b*****d).

Only other point is to be careful of the descent on the first corner after you've gone over the motorway. If its been raining the surface can be treacherous, and you'll be going pretty quick!

that's alright for you, considering you went up Ditchling as if it were flat, us mere mortals struggle abit more, so I think your paragraph should read......

[quote]yeah, but one of them's a big bugger that you need a small ring to grovel up (scotts hill) and the second is just as hard, where you stand up to avoid coming to a standstill and toppling over, and the last, push up to the finish and draw your last breath
