Nice one Huw, part of the reason I was checking was so I could get it all booked up and paid for so I'd get a "free" break later in the year.

Blimey Adrian, not going easy on the nipper if you're going make the poor little'un hike around that exposed coastline.

The look on his face there is just saying, "I couldn't have another mouthful, not even a wafer thin mint".

Definitely going ahead as far as I'm concerned

I'll email Mr Fawlty this aft and see if he's up for a group discount

Paul/Andrew - I'll also book a couple of advance places on the chain link ferry at Cowes for those who get in the break, will you be joining us this year?

I did not see this post when it started in May but...Sunday October the 5th is the Autumn Epic which I enjoyed so much last year so that I signed up for it again.. So if you are firm on the dates I will have to pass - shame cos it was a good trip :(

No commuting bike with rack this year.
We could also leave you on the front all day in to the wind if you're still feeling so frisky come October. So there...

I've e-mailed the guvnor to request group rates based on doing the ride on saturday 4th - this gives everyone a chance to return and get their lives back together on sunday, or indeed participate in a hillclimb (whatever that is - sounds like a jumped-up version of a time trial to me )

Last year I found it more convenient to travel down and stay friday night, but plenty of people came down saturday morning and made the 10.30 start - even those who got sucked into the one-way system in Lymington (which, let's face it is hardly lower Manhatten is it?)

We don't want to be starting later than 10.30 because we have a nice leisurely lunch stop and still get back in time for a relaxed evening, unless you missed the break, and consequently the East Cowes chain ferry (see above).
Did I mention that a few riders missed the break and consequently the East Cowes chain ferry?

Brian - sorry mate - we've already been round the houses on a date for this one - you'll probably have had enough of sportives come October so might yet see you on the line here

Don't worry, the Bec hill climb's the following week Huw so you'll be back in plenty of time. It may be a TT but I thought you scrawny fellas were meant to be quick up hills. Oh and the Redmon GP is the week after so you'll be able to do that as well. You might even make it further than 3 miles round this time  .

Good news - the manager has got straight back to me and he says yes to an ACC discount.

How much? Obviously the more people who come, the bigger the discount. There are a lot of rooms there but I'm not sure exactly how many so its first come first served.
Let me know names if you're interested, whether you want to stay 1 or 2 nights (friday 3rd and sat 4th) and I'll get back to you with a cost based on numbers of people coming
Don't worry if you can't commit right now - there's other B & Bs, hotels in town so if you decide to join us at a later date you'll be fine - except you won't get a discount of course

So far the the organizing committee is heading the list of confirmations: (Correct me if I've added any names who can't make it) add yours if you want to come...

Huw Williams - Event co-ordinator and chain-link ferry liaison
Amy Robinson - Sensible pace group leader 15-17mph*
Paul Tunnell - Stupid pace group leader/questionable choice of route and directions 19-20mph*
Ruth Tunnell - Lunch stop co-ordinator
Andrew Green - Chief 'excuses for lamentable late-season form' correspondent
Jon Avery - Chief Somellier
Mr and Mrs Adrian + 1 new addition - OOOhhhh check you guys out in the 'family' room

*Group speeds are based on club run speeds. Anyone out there want to lead a 17s -18s group around? The whole route is sign-posted so don't worry about getting lost (unless you're riding with Paul Tunnell )

That's already 8.5 people and we're heading in the direction of a good discount:

Once again If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, here's last year's report and feedback on one of THE great ACC days out

Count me in please. I'll join Amy's group, being nice and sensible
I'll probably come down Friday night and stay, will probably need to go back Saturday evening. Willing to give lifts to any like minded.
