It goes about every 15 mins - it's only a 100 yard crossing and I reckon that given sufficient momentum down the approach ramp you could actually ride across without the use of the ferry at all. Kind of like skiping a stone across a puddle. That's my theory anyway :D
I'll watch you go first Huw

If I ride my tourer, I can inflate my four empty Ortlieb panniers and ride across. All I need to do is decide whether to row, erect a saddle, or install an ingenious pedal driven propulsion system (preferable but maybe heavier). Come to think of it, I could attach blades to the spokes of the rear wheel with enough pitch to drive me throught the water - opposite to aero wheels... Hmmm!

Hi Guys

If anybody has space in the car and wants a passenger to share costs, keep them company ( I don't have to keep you company, I can just sit there and shut up!) on the drive then I will check with the missus if she'll let me out.

Thanks

I can help if you
(a) are prepared for an early start on Saturday and
(b) spending Sunday on the IOW as we (me and Mrs T do the tourist bit) and return early evening.

I hate motorway driving as it is soooooo boring it almost sends me to sleep. However I have a fairly large car so as long as it's still running in October then I can provide a lift to someone willing to put up with my inane natter - Departing Friday (morning post rush hour) and returning Sunday mid-morning, post vast breakfast.

BTW if anyone wants to minimise costs then I'm happy to share a twin (oo-er). I don't snore.

Yes, and probably best.

You have no idea how accurate that is.

Simple rule - if there isn't some kind of rubbish being spouted from the driver's seat then check I'm awake and give me a nudge if needed.

OK - There's a distinct paucity of twin rooms available at the Bugle inn (where they clearly cater for happy couples) and no singles left so I've booked the following:

Huw Williams + Amy Robinson
Family Room: Mr and Mrs Adrian + child
Paul Tunnell + Ruth Tunnell
Ian Munnery + Joanna Cushway
Chris Kay + Mrs Kay
Del + 1

Cost is £40pp per night b&b

Sorry Snoop - only 1 family room available and Adrian was first on the list - but I guess if you turn up earlier than him and say your Mr A and family, you'd have squatters rights :D

For the sad singletons left among you, do not despair - there is plenty of other accomodation in town and plenty of it cheaper than where we're staying - there are a few members coming who are not on the list anyway who wanted to arrange their own rooms. And as Yarmouth is about the size of Woolworths in Croydon, wherever you are you'll all be within a hundred yards of mission control

So if I can leave it up to you guys to sort out your own accommodation...

Mr and Mrs Doug Shaw + mini Snoop
Andrew Green
Jon Avery
Paul Dewis
Mark Locke
Mike Ingram
Steve Broomfield
Phil Nash
Tim Coales

Obviously you might want to hook up and arrange twin rooms for reasons of cost/convenience etc but that means someone's gonna have to risk seeing Andrew Green coming out of the shower half naked

Cheers

And let's face it, who'd be able to tell us apart anyway?

Huw, do you happen to know if the £40pp includes the very, very young? I have a nasty feeling that despite his impeccable breeding, Albert's going to turn up without any cash

Cheers for sorting this. I'll be treating it as a kind of belated convalescence from the ToBM 8)

I think baby's pay double on the understanding that they're more likely to keep other guests awake

No, seriously I have no idea - but surely not

You're all just jealous of my finely honed physique.

You need fear not, unless I get really drunk and start streaking through the Bugle , I have booked myself in to Ivy Cottage. Just a very small stagger back up the road. I nabbed the single but they may have the double or twin left if some of the others want to shack up.

I'll be at The Bugle to tuck in to a vast portion in the evening  .
