Club Hill climb + freewheel championships

Postby huw williams » Tue Jul 01, 2008 3:52 pm

This came up at the committee meeting last night and Snoop was a bit horrified as to how he was going to find yet more marshals for events we hadn't made provisions for. So we've decided to combine the two championships.

So this is the format:

A timed run up the hairpin climb starting outside Westhumble as normal. Unship your chain at the top for a timed freewheel run back down. The lowest combined time wins.

Just think of the savings, fewer Marshalls, only one location needed, only one tank of petrol required for those driving out there. In fact why stop there, let's incorporate the club 10, 25 and road race championships into the same event too (though I'd stop short of trying to include the club track champs due to logistical problems)

I take it that it's still on the day the Hill climb was arranged for?

Did I understand correctly that the two will be timed separately? Would be good if poss as it's a recognised hill for hill climbs. That way the ascent times can be used for Open Hill Climb entries if people are riding them. I realise it could be a bit tricky and it's not important as you don't tend to have a problem with full fields in hill climbs.

Yes - although its a night-time event starting at midnight and lights will only be allowed for the uphill leg

Put me down for helping out on this one.

And please, whoever's organising it get in touch nearer the time with info about where to go what to do etc.
