Message from the main man:
SCCU Centenary 100 mile Time Trial, Sunday 27th July 2008.
Dear club cyclists,
As many of you know this year is the centenary of the 100 mile TT. The first event took place on Saturday 11th July 1908, the start was 3.30am!!.
The event was promoted by the SCCU, was called the Syd Gray 100, named after a notable official in the SCCU.
Syd died in Aug 1907 and the first event was held in 1908. The event was won by C.Price of the Oval CC with a time of 6-1-35. The Syd Gray Shield was won by the Elite CC with a two man team, recording 13-2-57.
This year we are hoping to get an entry of over 100 competitors.
PLEASE do prevail upon your club riders to enter, we have teams of three now and would like as many teams as possible. There is a MASSIVE prize list for this event, not just for the sub-4 hour riders but for nearly everyone.
The course is based on the A24 and is quite fast, the course record is held by Keith Coffey with 3-50-53.
Entries close on Tuesday 15th July, entry fee £7 to Rod Starmer. The event carries Scratch, Handicap, Vets, Team, Womens, best improved and many other “special†prizes.
The 100 is a “sociable†event, we have a gathering in Dial Post Village Hall after the event when many old friends meet, often seeing one another only once per year at “The Counties 100â€.
Please try to get as many entries as possible from YOUR club.
Entries to Rod Starmer,

See you on 27th!!
