Old Ports 25

Postby Andrew G » Sun Jul 06, 2008 1:09 pm

Waste of time this morning really.

Windy, chilly, squalling showers. I set off okay but the wind was horrible and then got a fair amount of water chucked on me and I lost interest. Was just riding along at about 80% really so when I noticed my front tub was looking a bit squashier than at the start I didn't need much prompting to turn right at Broadbridge and back to HQ. So my first DNF in a TT today. Not bothered as it was a crap day and I'd only have done a decidedly average time at best. Putting the bike away noticed I hadn't screwed the valve in properly so when I'd put the dust cap on it'd been slowly deflating it  .

Just Mike out with me today, who summed it up perfectly at the start when we saw the weather by saying, "looks like a training ride today then".

Shame that Andrew, you seem to have had your fair share of bad weather this season.

Yep George saw the light, not that there was much of it this morning :( . Done four 25s this year already and still got two more left which was why I wasn't that fussed about this one. SCCU one at the end of the season will be old school though, fixed wheel, no aero aids  .

One hour six minutes and 15 seconds of training to be precise. I barely managed 20mph going downhill to Southwater, it was that breezy, and the following wind for the final four miles was never going to be enough to allow me to recover the time. I wish I'd had a lie-in and taken my kite over to the common instead.
