is that a saddle????

if so, it is the most stupid design ever. scientifically speaking, its not ergonomic, and would just be an irritance.

Your coccyx would be in for a right old battering on less-than-perfect road surfaces.

Thanks for enlightening the youth and newer to cycling Marco :) .

It was a time trial saddle designed to form an aerofoil behind the rider's bum, a wonderful sight was the whole Castorama team using them in a TTT  . Fignon did use one as he rode for them then.

I think the UCI banned them. I don't know how effective they actually were as the wind flow could probably just as easily flow over the rider's back and bet caught by the "bucket" of the seat disturbing the air flow, but no doubt they would have been further developed. Don't worry if you don't like them as they get caught by the UCI fairing rule so you won't see them again :( .

The principle was nothing to do with aerodynamics, but that by pushing backwards against the back of the saddle, you could push harder on he pedals.....hmmmmmmmmmmmm Nearly as bad as L shaped cranks methinks.
