the loud crackig noise is probably nothing serious, just a bad bit of spelling.

Head of pendants.

Better than a cacking noise  .

If there's no play in the headset the only thing I can think of is possibly over tightening of the bolts, had this once when I was a bit ham-fisted with an allen key. Probably not doing any real harm but a) not a nice noise to hear when you ride, and b) better safe than sorry, so probably best to drop it in a (decent) shop and ask them to give it a quick shufty. They can probably sort whatever the problem is in a couple of minutes. Other than that try loosening the bolts a bit and then re-tighten, switching between each one all the time to do up evenly, and just avoid really cranking them up at the end.

Sean try swapping out the front wheel and see if that enables you to diagnose the problem. If it stops then it must be something to do with the wheel.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Since getting back on the bike I've noticed an increasingly loud crackig noise coming from the front of the bike everytime I ride over a bump or hit a rut in the road.

Don't ride over bumps or hit ruts in the road then. Sorted.

Are you riding Mavic hubs?

Over tightening the skewers can cause a creakig(sic), most noticeable when getting off the saddle and swinging the bike side to side.

Could be that the headset is a bit loose. Check by putting the front brake on and rocking the bike backwards and forwards.

Or it could be that there's a weakness in the fork and every time you hit a bump you hear a crack as a few more carbon fibres snap. Not to worry you or anything.

Is it a loose cable hitting the frame? I had a similar problem on a bike I bought, everytime I hit rough road it sounded awful . I realised it was the excess cable pinging against the frame and got trimming.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Just back from GBs and they're about to start charging £40 an hour for anyone who brings in their bike with creaking and needs it checked out.
