Cav - a disgrace

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Tue Jul 22, 2008 1:11 pm

This is what some twat has posted on Eurosport.....

[quote]I think its a disgrace that track sprinters are allowed to compete in the tour. Its not right. On the flat stages Cavendish is dragged to the last km by his team. He gets sheltered the whole way and has no other responsibilities than to jump out from behind his lead out man 200 m from the finish. As soon as the road rises he's off the back. The tour should be for riders who are capable of making breaks, helping the team or riding for GC. There are plenty of riders who would give their eye teeth to ride the tour and here we have this arrogant upstart dropping out half way to concentrate on the Olympics. The Tour is a special race for the riders and viewing public, not some training exercise.

Great for British Sport.....

hear, hear, I agree, get rid of all sprint finishes from the tour! make'em all up hill or throw in some hills before hand to break it up.

I mean what was he thinking of, winning 4 stages and not allowing proper riders to win

Does this remind you of a certain American? He seemed to be quite good at winning, too. Poor show. What we really want is fine chaps like Henman, etc, get somewhere near there and fail splendidly. And whatever did the Isle of Man do for us? :P

I drive a 4x4 and do not share the views of the author of the extracted piece. I believe this forum is a little anti 4x4 which is a bit unfair as some of us need this sort of car for our jobs :?

what do you do that requires a 4x4?

I for one would not wish to be discriminatory to any fellow road user. Hopefully in the future we'll be more mindful of the sensitivities of this unjustly maligned minority.

Who cares about 4x4s, its the sodding MTB riding, High Viz wearing commuters that piss me off. Particularly the one in West Wickham this morning that I had an altercation with. While driving my front wheel drive only motor car, bless it.

Independent from ours despite being part of the UK though, so they don't have to put up with our lot.
