New tubs

Postby Dominic » Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:21 am

Just been out to test my bike for Sunday's 100 and have managed to get a puncture in my rear tub. I have a very cheap tub as a spare that I used to get myself home. Not wanting to risk the internet, can anybody recommend anywhere in London (localish) that does good prices on tubs. I have looked on GB's website and they start at about £30. Obviously I will pay that if I have to. I am looking at something along the lines of a Continental Sprinter quality. Any ideas?

I got a Conti Sprinter from GBs about a year or so ago and it was £25, you can grab your 10% ACC discount though with your membership card. To be honest to get next day delivery to ensure you have it you'll probably have to pay extra postage and make the cost pretty similar anyway.

BTW I'm using my road bike so if it's a PX 50 for you Campag Cougar then if we have similar start times I can bring my rear PX for you to borrow - 11-21 cassette and a vittoria corsa evo cs on it.

Cheers Andrew, I was in GBs yesterday and I thought I saw a Conti sprinter but wasn't sure. I was looking at their website for the prices and the sprinter wasn't listed. I will have a look in GBs tommorrow when I am back at work.
Thanks for the offer of the wheel I am guessing you haven't seen the start sheet, you are off at 6.41 and I am off at 7.22. I will have a new tub by then by hook or by crook.

Strangely while waiting for the tour to start I found that DeVer cycles which is near to work as well has a Schwalbe tub in which is about the same spec at the sprinter and about the same price. Looks like I am not going to get much work done tomorrow :D

The question is Paul, is it worth getting a tub fixed for a second time? It is less than a year old and has only been used for racing. It was a shard of glass that caused this puncture!!

And the most important question, if you think it is, (I will bow to your superior knowledge obviously Guru), would you be able to do it before Sunday if I leave it in your porch today?

One is all done and dandy, the other......bugger had 2 holes in it. Having sewed it up, it promptly went down again. I'll finish it tonight and bring it out to the Counties 100.
