Sunday Ride - 3rd August

Postby Andrew G » Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:23 pm

I've got a 10 on Saturday so if anyone wants to join me on Sunday post here. Start about 9am from GBs.

Nothing mad, just a nice tick-over ride at a steady pace so pretty much open house :) . I know plenty of routes but if anyone wants to go anywhere in particular then I'm happy to follow, although I don't want a hilly one. Looking at something in the region of 40 miles but fairly flexible, just don't want a long(70+) one.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Yes, please.

A short one on Sunday would suit me. I presume by GBs you mean Geoffrey Butler's? If so, which one? I live north of the river, so clarity appreciated

It be the one in Croydon :D

Might be up for this Mr G, long range forecast is looking a bit dodgy though so will see nearer the time.

This one Monica, be good to see a new face instead of the same old fools like Ant :D . It's the only one there is unless someone knows different (sister shop further down the road is Bike+).

I don't believe they can ever tell the weather that accurately this far in advance, but if it's due to be a wet one then it'll be off. If it's just the odd shower then I'll still go but I'll post on Saturday if it's a no-go.

I might be up for this as I'm not planning on doing the club run this weekend (need a lie-in and then got an appointment with a mortgage advisor :( ) It's just the 9am bit at GBs...

Hi, Andrew and all

Sam and I do a short ride (roughly 45 - 50 k) most Sunday mornings but not normally that early! what happened to civilisation?

Nothing mad??? what's that mean?? a relative concept if ever I heard one! :D

I'd love to join you - if i can get myself up and get the boy up I'll see you ' 9.00.

cheers

Jon

PS - why no hills??

9am is civilised (Amy you're getting a lie-in on Saturday you've admitted as much  ), you both sound like students! Means you can do 40-50 miles and be home and showered in plenty of time for lunch. :D

Nothing mad means not racing around and a nice social ride at steady tick over pace. Will be suitable for 17s upwards, wait for/tow back anyone who drops off, and regroup (wait for me) at the top of any climb.

There will be hills, difficult to avoid them completely in this area, but I'm not after a purely hilly ride. I was thinking of doing a nice loop which I haven't done for a while, which is climb up to the top of the downs via Selsdon and the lanes, then along Pilgrims Way (one of my favourite roads), up Polhill (good for an interval if you fancy one), then through/up to Downe and drop back in to Coney Hall.

Jon, if I advertise as hilly you'd know it was hilly afterwards, ask anyone who did the "Grimpeurs Challenge" route  .

Be good to see you at GBs and Sam will still have a chance to show his climbing legs on a couple of occasions, although they are more draggy then short and vertical.

Doesn't look like i'm doing the club run as i'm taking my dog to a dog show at Windsor, so Mr  i'll be up for it, may be bringing my mate Mark from work along as well, he has been on a couple of club runs and had no problem averaging 19 last Sat

Won't be a 19s ride Jon but more than welcome. Good luck with that dozy great lummox against the corgis :D , is it a military show?

My brother came third in a lookalike competition with his wife's dog :D

Mr  I object to your remark - some of us like to have the odd lie-in. I haven't had a proper one for weeks

No probs as I'm sure you know the roads like back of your hand, you can just loop back from Downe through Biggin Hill and head out to Penshurt and beyond :D .

Offspring's away, Mrs I is busy and I've been told that I am left to my own devices at the weekend  . It's looking like a retro-type club run on Saturday, followed by an agreeable jaunt with Mr  somewhere a bit different on Sunday.
