Beautifully still morning, we had great weather, early on it was nice and cool but I could see that big glowing ball up in the sky was just dying to heat things up for us and boy did it!
I shot off quite fast and and managed to pass Andrew on the first lap, I just wanted to get to his mum's wet sponge before him
Then on the second lap on the Guildford road leg Robert stopped just ahead of me with a puncture
I was feeling nice and fresh and had lots of carrots to chomp on which was much nicer than being the first man on the road in my previous 100.
Up the Southwater drag grabbed a wet sponge off Andrews mum which was lovely just as the heat was starting to get up. West Grinstead and left at the traffic lights, ahead I could see that they were green and really didn't want to wait on the red, I just made it through on amber to my relief.
This road took us off onto single lane roads which were particularly busy in the morning, I suppose alot of people were heading down't coast on such a nice day.
I enjoyed the course on the second part where we went off onto rolling country lanes, I actually felt faster on this section of the route and thought the A272 was very fast indeed well over 25 mph average.
Enjoyed all the Addiscombe supporters including Keith Wahman on his bike, Chris and John Watts,John Smith, The Greens, Syd, Earnie and the best Agreeable marshaling team at Cowfold thanks John and Alex.
Didn't have any worry, complaints , pains or problems so all I had to do was keep pushing the pedals round.
I must admit the finishing loop was indeed the toughest section of the couyrse and manageed to pass mike on a disgustingly steep drag, then whoopee I was the first Agreeable on the road.
Sprint to the finish line and straight into the shade and a nice sit down and chat with Keith, shouting encouragement to every agreeable as they went past with their faces of pain.Finished with a 4.11.07
Very happy with my ride it was a great tester session for the 12hour and everything seems to have come together with bike set and comfort, sorry I don't have a tale of whoe like some others who battled on through different hardships.
Funniest moment
I had finished got changed saw paul T come round for the last loop of the course then 10 mins later, ring ring ring ring I answered my mobile and it was Tom Tom Tunnel asking directions as he'd got lost in the Sussex lanes around shipley
2nd funniest moment
Paul and I were taking Keith W back home in the team bus, Keith was busy catching up with all his old school TT mates so I thought I'd load his bike up whilst we were waiting.
Then 10 mins later an old chap banged on the van and shouted at me Oi you've got my bike in the back of your van!! Oops it wasn't Keiths bike after all.
Big respect
The event was completed by an 82 year old man, so John L come on out to play at some longer distances.
