We were there last time - nice quaint place.

Don't listen to that Welshman - The IOW is lumpy and occasionally steep, but with fantastic scenery - and don't be fooled by Newport, it was just that he took advantage there of a slowing in the pace to jump away and get to the chain ferry

Now I'm confused - 1)I thought the chain ferry was at Cowes and 2) the round the island route didn't go through Newport anyway

Cowes is the northernmost point of the town - East Cowes is where the chain link ferry runs:

Did I say I was going to Newport? I did not. I merely stated that the climbs around it, as any fool knows, are on a par with Puig Major in Majorca
