Turned up at Coulsdon South at 8.30 and met up with Sylv, Dan G and Tom Tom for a fast 4 hour ride to Brighton and back.
Just as we set off it chucked it down and the rain/drizzle never let off for all of the ride down. 3 of us had TT bars and it was just Dan who was left on the drops although he was strong enough to keep up without.
Paul took us down a particulaly nice Deak lane from Staplefield which chucked us out at Ansty and cut out Cuckfield one more nice lane after that but the visability was pretty poor through the sunglasses so on the descents there was no was I was hammering down a dark avenue of trees on the drops so I eased back a little just off the bunch like Vladimir Karpets on my clubrun last year.
Sylv was doing some good stints on the front abd Paul said it was like Derney training when I was up there
Up over the South downs Sylv and I pulled ahead but waited for a regroup at the bottom for the prossesion into Brighton. Coming into Brighton I got a flat front tyre so popped into a bike shop where I replaced the whole tyre cos it had a nasty slit right through and aranged with Paul to meet them at our usual cafe.
All the streets in Brighton were heaving with Brighton Pride Festival goers who I think were keen on our tight wet lycra outfits There were carnival floats and all sorts of crazy things going on along the promenade, I eventually managed to cross over the street and headed down the the cafe but alas they were not there
Oh well I had a cheese sarnia and a cup a rosy and then TT'd it back to Croydon in 2 hours, I assume Paul, Dan and Sylv have been acosted off to the blu oyster bar I bet there still there now.
