Captains log, Stardate Saturday 2nd August in the year of our Monty 2008 A.D.

The Group....

Tim oh smooth one at the pointy end with the Gadget bike,
John the old'n and Magnum P.I in the shirt he won in a rave 20 years ago, with a combined age of 178 (age, not heart rate!!!),
Big Bianchi and Mini-me Bianchi bridging the generation gap,
Bald-Rick on the Bianchi and Maxi-Minimum (NEWBIE age 13) the human earbud.
Marky Mark overseeing the JFF massive because I care.
Tac (With the amazing exploding tyres) I think I got your name wrong so please let me know what it is and warn me never ever to get it wrong again.

Just For Fun....

Heir Vice Capitan Tim leading us out with a massive head start for the training groups and the countdown from 19 to 15, we could not lose in the race for cake.

The 1st ride ever for Maxi-Minium who got into his stride and never faded and didn't ever stop thinking of others during the ride with his clear and never ending warnings of 'Holes, gravel, cars and horse poo', top ride max, 16's for you next week , the efforts to blow him off his bike with the exploding tyre trick did not work, we will have to try something else next time to catch him off his guard.

This is where the Agreeable teamwork slots right into place, John the old'n got his trusted tool kit out that he had saved from the war to rescue the fair maiden Tac. Ironic really, The tool kit survived 2 world wars to come a cropper from the slipstream of a Shimano HGV delivering parts to Halfords.

Repair done, now we are really pushed for time, we go 2-up and make a plan to divert to a Reigate bike shop to buy a tyre for the Fair Maiden. On the way our silence was broken by a car driver driving behind us by only a few feet away from us with her finger firmly attached to the horn, intimidating and bloody dangerous, 'words' were exchanged between Bald-Rick and loony car driver which ended up with a brainless, scruffy, smelly, good for nothing lorry driver getting out of his heap of crap held together with string at the next set of lights and squaring up to Rick with the old chestnut of "you bloody cyclists should ride single file as close to the gutter as possible", His one brain cell was not working very well that morning, Ahhh bless him. Many thanks to John for reminding the brainless single celled organ of the Highway code, we will be testing him at a later date I'm sure        .

On to the bike shop now to buy new tyre, bike shop had no tyre for the Fair Maiden, Plan 'C' for the CR now, direct route, do not pass go, do not collect £200  .

The Cafe Pit stop....

Sean you're a lot shorter in real life  , but good to say hello to :D . Good crowd and nice food as always, apart form you greedy lot had eaten all the cake and Redbull before we got there.

Fair Maiden teamed up with her other half who was going to ride back with us. The only way I can describe his is...... Been on holiday in Baghdad with bike ride through Afghanistan followed by being put in a washing machine with a cheese greater. Get well soon and bath it daily   .

The ride home....

We decided to do a reverse CR home to show the newbies our wonderful Surrey countryside, Tim got very horny and loved to show us. Don't ask because he told us not to tell you all. I said don't ask.

Fair Maiden and washing machine man fell off the back during the Merstam drag, kind Tim the Horny one waited for them pre-A23, nice to know everyone is looked out for on a run.

Earbud done really well and said he'd love to come out on another run with the Agreeables, He did ask if Monty was the real Monty Burns out of the Simpsons. What could I say?

P.S Baldy and I just done the Bewl water loop again and I survived it this time in one piece. No stopping me now.

Great write up Mark :D Thanks to all for looking after Tak, she was pretty apprehensive beforehand and was very pleasantly surprised to be riding with such a welcoming, friendly and resourceful bunch (nod to John and his tool kit  ). This really is the reason ACC is the great club it is, so take a HUUUGE pat on the back for yourselves :D Shame she missed the cake too, she was really looking forward to that
