The only thing I've seen my Dad riding in a photo is a camel. Early 1950's in Egypt with the RAF.

For the record, my father rode a Freddie Grubb (quick web research reveals they were based in Brixton then Anerley, later sold to Holdworth). No photos though.

Of the photos he's shown you  .

My Dad's old fixie, which moved on to me as my first one and will be re-ridden by him in the Redmon GP is a Holdsworth, circa 1970 - loverly.

BTW does anyone have a "string of sausages" leather helmet that I could borrow. I've tried to find one to buy cheap but no joy - anyone know of anywhere? A couple I was watching on ebay went too high. I'm going to ride the SCCU 25 retro, fixed wheel, no aero aids, old(ish) style jersey, so it would be nice to complete the ensemble :D .

Blimey you lot are better at rambling on about nothing than me!!

My dad used to be in the RAF too, in fact he used to race for there cycling team i think. I don’t think he ever rode a camel and he assures me the rumours about a fat cow are untrue

I’m not sure how bling his bike was but this might mean something to you retro geeks,
27" wheels
2" rake forks
track chain stays
Royal blue with chrome ends on the fork and chain stays
73 degree parallel
Williams cranks
Webb pedals
Brooks B17 saddle
GB brakes
Airlight rear hub (large flanged with holes drilled in)
Serial no C11730

[quote="Andrew G"]Oh yeah. I guess your Dad doesn't have it anymore or we'd have seen you on a CR/Evening 10 on it.

Sadly no. It was written off when the Old Fool overtook a bus without checking properly for oncoming traffic. He limped home to be told that he would have to borrow his dad's bike to get himself to hospital - where he was then kept in for four days. Was there any 1950s cyclist who wasn't hard as nails?

60s vintage (when shorts were short :D ) Little Green Man Sr. (I'm sure Sean will approve of the frame).

Andrew,

Like this picture. This bike looks to have some proper gears (42/52 with quite a small block). I can see some similarities with the the younger green man........White Socks !!!
