12 hour TT entries.

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Yep, they should suffice, for once I won`t need to have them

Thanks for all meeting up yesterday it was really good to have a yarn and see all the route maps and get everything sorted, well at least Sylv and I have been shown the LIGHT.
We'll have to email all our helpers mobile numbers around so everyone can keep in touch on the day.

You know what I've been thinking about this cut off time from circuit A, I think it might just be doable by myself as all I need to do is ride a 1.59 schedule for the first 50 and I should just scrape through for another go up to Red Lodge, but believe me if it's too windy I'm not killing myself I can tell ya

I know you can do that, but do you really want to start a 12 that fast :?:

Dear all

What support have you got arranged for this? I am helping Keith...but he's suggested that I could pair up with an ACC supporter and two of us could probably support two riders more easily than one could support one....

So if anyone's only got one helper and they fancy sharing duties let me know.

I'll also chuck in a few spare 'general' bottles and food for ACC consumption if you can't make it to your designated supporter.

Tamar

Mark, Paul's son who is going, has kindly accepted to do some helping for me. To what extent I don't want to anticipate too much (and also as I am not familiar with the logistics of these things).

If Paul relays this and Mark and him think it is a good idea, I guess your suggestion could be a possibility. Although I am sure Keith's and my pace will not be similar (I am hoping for 240 though). We are all meeting for a Chinese diner the night before (Paul's idea, we'll blame him for any digestive disagreements), and staying at at B&B in G.Chesterford. I am off at 5.42.

I should be fine (relatively) thanks Tamar as I've roped both parents in to watch their youngest turn in to a quivering wreck and start crying for his Mummy.

If I ride past you in a slightly deranged manner singing Bon Jovi songs though I hold you responsible :D .

I will be riding in one of the ACC support vehicles with PVT's son Mark... and aim to do my best to help you all!

If anyone does need us anywhere for anything or have a crisis or emergency on their hands then feel free to call me on 07747198994.

My names also Keith... it could get confusing!

Really looking foreward to the day!

[quote="mrP(Boonen)VT"]Just had a thought - some of the circuits were 10 miles last year.......at some point all 100+ riders will be on the circuit at the same time, therefore 10 riders per mile, or a gap of 176 yds or 162m between each rider and the next

It's gonna be hard to absolutely avoid any drafting then, no? Do you have to swerve ostensibly to the right when you approach someone to pass them? What when someone passes you - slow down for a bit??

Officially YES, but in practice a 12 hour is not really a speed event, so drafting will make little difference at the end of the day. Just use a bit of common sense and not sit directly on a wheel and you should be fine.

News just in - it's now looking like my work trip will be called off, in which case I'll be available as a feeder/soigneur/cheerleader whatever.

Good : )

After experimenting with two different Flite saddles (other than the carbon one), I've decided to go back to the one that has taken me through 12h and 24h mtb races in the past, the most comfortable saddle in the world;

I give you 395gm of bomb-proof, water-proof WTB glitterness : )

Judging by that saddle I think it might be cheerleading Sylv's after Jon  .

A couple of questions for those with experience of this madness:
1) Do I just hand in the form with the details of my support car & drivers when I sign on and collect my numbers?
2) If it rains (yes I know unlikely in the middle of this glorious summer we are enjoying  ) then I can't promise not to don a rain jacket. What's the score with this regarding the fact it'll cover up the race numbers?

Ta.
