The Pink dream machine is no longer - chloe had a crash!

Postby thePinkDreamMachine » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:35 am

The Pink dream machine (Bike) is no longer….. it’s a write off,

As some of your may have heard, I got knocked off my bike yesterday morning by a campervan on brixton hill, it just pulled out, and I hit it at 20mph (down hill) side on into the wheel arch, I was thrown over the bonnet/ front bit and landed on my head then slammed on to my back and have bruised lungs, helmet is in pieces, bike is screwed up, the forks are in half and I was filliping lucky not to have a spinal apparently I just bounced (my first trip in an ambulances was exciting not that I was with it to even enjoy it) Spent the day in hospital but home now feeling rather rough.

Now on to business…. Any idea for new bikes please send them my way.. the lady whom hit me has accepted full responsibility is happy to pay out on her insurance.

Also as a member of the club, do I have any cover that will help me put in a ‘personal injure claim?’ Or if I join anything now like the British cycling or the CTC will they will be able to help.

I currently don’t have a bike, so if anyone has a bike lurking in the garage I could borrow until I get a new one that would be so so kind.

Many thanks

Chloe

Sorry to hear of your collision Chloe, glad to hear you're in one piece.

Shame about the Pink machine - it was looking good last Thursday, and now no more.

I can't help you with a bike as anything I have would be too big.

Join the CTC then ring up their accident line....That's what I did and so did a friend recently. Memebrships is around £35.

Ouch!!! Not a great way to start the week :( . Glad you're in one piece, albeit a sore one, and nice to hear that the driver was a decent sort (apart from the hitting you in the first place part).

Does the new bike have to be pink as that might limit your choices, there's a panther that might be able to help though :) .

That sucks! The bottom of that downhill is so dangerous, I always used to see bike/motorbike accidents at the junction there, now I take another route (via Clapham North), but this morning I got caught in a race with a guy on a Seven, so I followed him down the hill, it was wet and a bit scary.

Hope you haven't sustained any further injuries, I'm sure someone will have a road bike to lend you, if push comes to shove I have a 15.5" MTB that could be built to be ridden on the road with slick tires. (It's not pink but gold, and check out that saddle (have two of them) ... :D )

Attagirl! A true bikie always worries early on about the bike! However, I'm really sorry to hear of your mishap, Chloe, and hope you are quickly back on two wheels.

I live just off Brixton Hill and always feel that my chances off getting knocked off are about 1000% higher there than anywhere else I may roam, for however long.

Sorry to hear this - sounded very nasty. Hope you're on the mend soon.

Sorry to hear about the crash, Chloe, glad you're ok.

I think Trek do a pink bike - I drafted behind a couple from South Emshall on the Dragon Ride and the girl was on a pink bike she said was new so this year's model. Then there's Scott CR1 in T-Mobile colours.

Of course the world's your oyster now so you could even go custom, Roberts, Serotta etc.

Hi Chloe,

Sorry to hear about your accident. It sounds remarkably like the one I had and am still recovering from.

If you got carted off in an ambulance the police will presumably have taken statements from witnesses, etc.

The other driver will probably claim on her insurance when she finds out how much a decent road bike costs and they will normally only give you a written-down second hand value. So, you might as well go the whole hog and sue for pain and suffering as well. The person I am using is Clare Noon (0870 066 0622) who was recommended by Pearsons.

Do you think you'll be fit and well enough for the Pyrenees? Perhaps instead of hiring a car we should hire an ambulance between us!

Get well soon.
