"Junk Miles" debunked

Postby Dombo » Wed Aug 13, 2008 2:08 pm

Hey hey, just what I've been waiting for.
Gently does it is the way to go. No more training for the etape doing lung bursting reps up and down the hills of Surrey, Peak District or even the Alps. Pootling to the shops or around the park is ample effort:

As with most "research", you can normally pick a few holes in it. The first hole is often the target, e.g. If I did any proper training then it would vary depending on whether I was going to ride a season of only 10s or only 50s and 100s, one hour crits or 3/4 day stage races, etc , etc. I don't believe there is one catch-all in the same way that if you do naff all except stick vibrating pads on your gut you'll end up with a pan flat, rock solid stomach despite the people showing them off in the adverts.
