Track Championship Saturday September 13th

Track Championship Saturday September 13th

Postby Mark Leedham » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:39 pm

The 2008 Addiscombe Track Championships (held in conjunction with the BEC and the DeLaune) will be at Herne Hill Stadium on Sat 13th September, 14.00hr start.

This should leave plenty of time to get back from the President's 10 which starts at 10:00.

Don't think so, unless you beetle off after your ride and don't hang about for the prize presentation etc.

Really Paul? 10am start, say 30 riders last one does evens (unlikely) means last rider's finished at 11am. An hour for timings/pressies etc and then 2 hours to get to Herne Hill.

Usually takes me 45 minutes to my house, then about 30 minutes to HH i.e.1:15 and don't forget the thing STARTS at 2:00, so bike has to be ready, warmed up etc etc

If you ride to HH, won't you already be warmed up?

Easy Paul - three options:

1) If your track / fixed bike has a drilled fork then ride the President's 10 on fixed. After, while waiting for timings, strip the brake etc off bike so it's ready for the track and change in to clean clothes. Drive to track picking up some grub on way (if not in car already). Get to track in plenty of time to do a few laps to loosen your legs before the start.

2) Put track bike (stripped and ready to go) in your car with your TT bike. Ride President's 10, change in to clean clothes etc while waiting for times. Drive to Herne Hill - food etc as above, get track bike out car and do few laps..........as above.

3) Grahame sanctioned if your track bike has a brake etc. - Ride to president's 10 on fixed/track bike. Flip wheel to bigger gear and ride 10. Flip wheel back etc post 10 while waiting times ya-da-ya-da. Ride to Herne Hill stopping off for grub on way. Flip wheel again, remove brake etc and ride track champs. After either scrounge a lift home or flip wheel again and re-fix brake and ride home.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy and more than one option. I'll go for either 1 or 2 depending on what I decide to do the 10 on.

I have a cordless drill and a 5mm drill bit. Now what's the problem?

Worth saying:
a) just how much fun this is :D .
b) you need to have done the Herne Hill induction on a Saturday morning first so do try and get along and do one so you can do this, if you haven't already.

Can we have a 2-lap sprint race? I was just thinking it would be fun to do this somewhere like at Palace - 2 riders, two laps, start together, first across the line wins - chose whether to sprint from the go or to look at each other until an attack is launched.

Based on last year Sylv it's a set series of track races. I think there was a scratch race(5km?), a 4km pursuit, and at least a couple of sprint races - one a handicap, and the other a one lap match sprint (one lap is far enough on a big track like HH or you'd just be riding round slowly for a lot longer). You can go from the gun if you want but it was a 4-up sprint last year so you'd almost certainly just end up towing 3 others round for a lap.
