Sean, somebody riding a red bike and wearing an ACC jersey overtook me near the Dulwich Common traffic lights heading towards the picture gallery. Was it you?

Does that average include stopping time at lights Sean?
Nice morning indeed, couldn't stop myself from doing another 15 minutes
Managed bus drafting both ways up Vauxhall Bridge :D

Back ache, legs hopeless, no power, couldn't climb - really ******* awful, but weather was nice.

I had a great ride to, 2 hours of just spinnihng around. Came back up the 217 around Sutton, thought it was odd that the cars were going so slow, looked down at my computer to see Im sitting at smack on 40 mph on the flat without drafting. Just felt really good out there today.

Just wanted a steady light pedal in to try it out (used the car yesterday!!).

Trouble is there are hills in the way - but it's an easy run home as long as I avoid the bumps.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Finally did it! All the days into work where I've come close to the , for me once fantasy land, average of 15mph are now no more.

Time you got down to some prper TTs, m'lad. President's 10 ahead ...

Legs and head first Sean, the bike helps but if those are in order then you'll do better than with just aero aids. I'd bet you did your PB on a TT bike mainly because it put your head in the right place. I'd also be willing to bet that you could go that fast or quicker on your Condor with standard drop bars - particularly now you're down to your fighting weight - if you did a proper warm up, and raced it rather than rode it. Most of last year I was still riding them and not actually concentrating 'til about 4 miles in to a 10.

Spot on Andrew, I think the reason I'm getting better and quicker has a lot to do with my attitude and not being afraid to push myself out of my comfort zone, hence my now going out with the A training group, I know its hard, I know that I wont last all the way round or if I do Im hanging on the back for dear life but I believe in myself, I have it in my head that I will get better, that the pain is worth it and every week I'll get that little bit more capable of keeping up.

If I can do it anyone can, I'll be the 1st to admit that mentally Im not that strong a person but I've learnt not to be afraid of failing, it just make me more determined to try again the next week.

As for the legs, Sean, Im sure when I started cycling last november I was in far worse state than you, I'd not done an ounce of exercise for more than 15 years and had smoked like a chimney til last october. My 1st club run I just threw myself in at the deepend and went with the 17's, I barely made it to the cafe as I thought my lungs and legs were going to explode. Crazy, yes, determined, you bet.

I guess this is a message to everyone who is scared of going that little bit further and pushing themselves to hard. Im not trying to preach here, just trying to make the point that you never know what you can achieve unless you really really try. Go on, move up a group this week, you never know, you might like it :D

No excuses, Sean. I'll be doing it on my £350 (original gear) Greg Lemond bike. Or might even do it on my recently revived 35-ish-year-old Condor. C'mon, you've got a few years advantage on me ... :P
