Hey John L, good to hear from you. I see your up for a group of riders to leave at 8am. There are some "semi-newbees" who are a little nervous about the Super 15mph but want to make the ride and I know they can do it. Are you happy for them to pitch up at 7.45pm for your group?

Best wishes and look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

Just received the ACC email regarding the Club Run to Brighton and it would appear that the Training Groups are "NFI" *

However, we don't need an invite, so when would us training groups like to leave?

Either leave after the other groups, take the same route and arrive at the Regency at the same time, or leave a bit earlier and take a bit longer route (or drink more coffee along the way).

What do people fancy doing?

K

* NFI = Not Flipping Invited (or some other word beginning with F).

The original post 'invited' the A & B training groups to decide for themselves what time they wanted to go

Last time the A training group amalgamated with the B training group because not enough 'A's turned up - resulting in some 'B' training group riders turning blue by the time they got to Merstham - where Stu and Marek took a wrong turn because their noses were on the tyre :D

hence the decision to invite faster groups to look after themselves, and even have a lie-in or watch the MTB race before setting off. Surely, surely you're clever enough to organise a meeting time, a route and a (however un realisitc) estimate of the speed? :D :D :D

Better take the commuter with rack and panniers then.

[quote="Amy"]Does anybody want to try the route in reverse? It wont be a fast ride if I'm doing it - sort of 16mph (if I'm lucky)

Amy are you still thinking of doing this route?? Never been to Brighton via Devils Dyke. 16mph sounds about ok for me. And I am unexpectedly free this weekend.

Does anyone know who the leader is for the 18's? It's just that I may want to latch on somewhere further on the route, perhaps at Bletchingly just beyond that green and yellow pub at the crossroads with the A25.

Would Marco know? Maybe I should pm him.....

Well, if anyone fancies it I know a very good route to Brighton, but it takes in a few hills over towards Ashdown Forest. Am happy to lead a group and I don't mind tempering the speed a bit. I cannot go as late as 10.30am as I would like to get in a couple of hours riding in before that time. I will be at CSS for 9am and if no one fancies my route then I will join whatever group is there at that time.

Cheers

Marek....

Im not sure what to do. Having missed out on the last mass ACC trip to jolly Brighton I reeally want to do this one esp as the weathers looking really good for sat. My problem is Im dj'ing in London sat night, Im not on till 10 but need to be in the smoke by 7.30 to meet up friends. It will be a long night as Im off to the after party as well.

What time did people get back on the last trip. I guess I could go out with the the 19's then leg it back with a fast group to try get a bit of sleep when I get home before heading off out. Oooohhhhh what to do what to do....

Like Michelle, I may have to join the 18's after the start at Merstham or Bletchingley - so planned route for the 18s would useful.

I think the pub Michelle is referring to is The Crown in Nutfield - at the crossroads - Churh Hill to Coopers Hill crossing the A25. If the group is going that way we could both join there at about 9-40ish. :?: :?:

That was the route that was taken last year, I think it is the classic London to Brighton Route.

Can someone in Authority please confirm? Andy is correct it is The Crown Pub at the crossroads of Church Hill and Coopers Hill Road where it crosses the A25 in Nutfield.

It that is the route, then I will meet you there at 9.40 Andy.

Unlike Cartman I have no authority, but will be going out with the 18s (might jump in another group for the way home). To be honest I don't know which way is intended but think the official L2B route is most likely, not that I definitely know that either. I've been there enough times to be able to find my way but couldn't give directions I'm afraid - it would be a standard Green-head-for-a-rough-direction-and-follow-your-nose route. That's the trouble of going there with PVT so much, you never go there and back the same way twice so end up with a mélange of routes in your head.

Glad to have been of so little assistance  .

Training Groups - Better to keep it simple? I'm not in charge around here, but how about.....

8.30 @ 15mph
8.45 @ 16mph
9.00 @ 17mph
9.15 @ 18mph
9.30 @ 19mph
9.45 Training Group B
10.00 Training Group A

Additionally Marek is prepared to lead a group via Ashdown Forest, leaving at 9am.

That's what he said last time

I've just been asked to stay on call in the orifice for press duties in the unlikely event that Mr Killeen troubles the scorers in the dirt race so can't make it.

But normal route would be down to Merstham, turn left go down the hill and right at the bottom to go past the boating lake and up the climb to the crossroads at the A25* straight across and down the hill to the South Nutfield circuit then just keep going straight on to the junction at the bottom end of the interclub course. Turn right, straight on at the lights to the next junction. Left and onto that big roundabout, up the little lane to Turners Hill. Main road to Haywards Heath and Ditchling and MIND THAT HAY-BAYLER. Re-group at the top then 50mph down the hill into Brighton - easy!

*a suitable alternative here would be to go along the A25 turning right at Bletchingly and going up the hill past Outwood windmill
