Additionally Marek is prepared to lead a group via Ashdown Forest, leaving at 9am.

That's what he said last time

I've just been asked to stay on call in the orifice for press duties in the unlikely event that Mr Killeen troubles the scorers in the dirt race so can't make it.

But normal route would be down to Merstham, turn left go down the hill and right at the bottom to go past the boating lake and up the climb to the crossroads at the A25* straight across and down the hill to the South Nutfield circuit then just keep going straight on to the junction at the bottom end of the interclub course. Turn right, straight on at the lights to the next junction. Left and onto that big roundabout, up the little lane to Turners Hill. Main road to Haywards Heath and Ditchling and MIND THAT HAY-BAYLER. Re-group at the top then 50mph down the hill into Brighton - easy!

*a suitable alternative here would be to go along the A25 turning right at Bletchingly and going up the hill past Outwood windmill
The captain has issued strict instructions that he'd like the groups not to be infiltrated by quicker riders and kept apart as far as possible, so as the 9.00am start is already booked, how about we fit you in for a B) training group (PVT pace), leave at 9.45 for a 12.30 rendezvous at the pier? Route of your own devising of course.

8.30 @ 15mph
8.45 @ 16mph
9.00 @ 17mph
9.15 @ 18mph
9.30 @ 19mph
9.45 Training Group B
10.00 Training Group A

and Marek is leaving at 9:00am???

Not in charge either

Does anybody want to try the route in reverse? It wont be a fast ride if I'm doing it - sort of 16mph (if I'm lucky)

Amy are you still thinking of doing this route?? Never been to Brighton via Devils Dyke. 16mph sounds about ok for me. And I am unexpectedly free this weekend.

Actually I'm rather confused as to what I am doing - seemingly like everyone else on this post  . I thought I was going to be leading at least a 15s on this route but now seem to be helping out with the sub 15s (which I don't mind, well not too much  )

I know it's last minute but is there any interest in my alternative route (no difference in actual mileage) at a 15/16ish pace (roughly translated as my pace not anyone else's :D ) :?:

I believe that Marek is doing a longer route taking in some of Ashdown Forest, he is not in the Training A's or B's.

I want to leave at 9:00am - so will go with the 17's I guess (no Marek, I'm not going over the Ashdown) but will take a "training" group for a long hard ride home.

So for the 18's.

Andrew Green - if you can guide them on the route suggested by Huw towards Nutfield, past the Inn on the Pond, up Church Hill to cross over the A25 I will see you there, and poss Andy K as well. I have got your mobile number and will pm mine to you so you can let me know if there are any delays.

Andy K - I will pm my mobile number to you, if you are going to end up in Nutfield if you can do the same.

Ive adjusted the times so they are now in true CACCT. (Central Addiscombe Cycling Club Time)

8.30 @ 15mph = 8.50
8.45 @ 16mph = 9.05
9.00 @ 17mph = 9.20
9.15 @ 18mph = 9.35
9.30 @ 19mph = 9.50
9.45 Training Group B = 10.10
10.00 Training Group A = when Stu turns up.

*please note, the above is a joke and is a sly dig at how bad at time keeping we are as a whole :D

There's a brewery just outside Haywards Heath - maybe we should go there for a p**s up. Probably too difficult to organize though :D

Thank you ant,

erudite as ever

I fancy going with Marek but if no-one else is i'm not turning up @ nine (9) & then hanging aroung until ten (10).

So if I may ask people to commit this far in advance; Who else is going to join Marek and who is leaving @ ten (10)?

Nice and clear this isn't it :D . My money's on everyone being at CSS for 9 and work it out from there  .
But normal route would be down to Merstham, turn left go down the hill and right at the bottom to go past the boating lake and up the climb to the crossroads at the A25* straight across and down the hill

Is this: Merstham, flick left on to Nutfield Road, then left (not right) on to Nutfield Marsh Rd which becomes Church Hill. Up to A25 and then straight over to drop down Cooper's Hill Road having collected Michelle and Andy at the pub on the corner at the top of Cooper's
Seems to tie up with...
Andrew Green - if you can guide them on the route suggested by Huw towards Nutfield, past the Inn on the Pond, up Church Hill to cross over the A25 I will see you there

I hate directions, so much easier when you just follow your nose and see where you end up :D .

NB I reserve the right to absolve any form of responsibility and sod off in a different direction completely :) .
