This is possibly in the wrong room;
An oppourtunity has come up through my work, where at a big company corporate event they are looking for cyclists in the company from each area of the company to come foreward...
[quote]Hi Guys,
At the XXXXXXX Event we are planning to get a different member of the GB Cycling Team to attend each day (sorry not Nicole Cooke as she'll be preparing for the World Championships in Italy). They will be there to compete against 6 colleagues on a 1 minute roller racing challenge. As there are 6 areas attending each day I'd like you to nominate colleague to represent your Area.
Your representative needs to;
Deserve the opportunity to pit their skills against an Olympian
Be physically fit to take part (maybe a serious club cyclist)
Have the gear (we'll provide the bike, but the right clothing would help)
Once we have a full list of names we will contact them and advise them what they need to do.
Please send your nomination to me ASAP.
Regards,
XXXXXXXXXXX
I have a feeling i am going to be nominated, as everyone in my area knows i ride to work in bright yellow lycra and generally go as fast as possibly in every aspect of life... and i am "mr cycling" (to these mortals who are anti-cyclists, not compared to the ACC'rs).
However i am a bit scared, as i have never been on rollers before, the closest i have come to rollers was seeing PVT test ride my new cycle that he set up in his lounge on ACC rollers!!! that was scary and i declined a go for fear of falling off!!!
What are rollers like? and should i be able to get access to some soon are they easy to get used to?
Should you stand and sprint to win or sit and pound it out... its only for a minute!!!
Are you usually allowed to clip in and warm up first? or would a minute race start from standing?
I am already very nervous at the thought, Is there a big chance i am to make a fool of myself or hurt myself infront of 300 people plus bigwigs and olympians?
Any tips to go straight into a 4 week training schedule? its in 4 weeks!
I am already quite bike fit, resting heart rate is 39bpm, and my max is 187bpm, my max speed on flat tarmac (a23 southcroydon) was 34mph.
Should i even volenteer? i just know if i dont i'll regret it!
HELP!
