[quote="Grahame"][quote="sonic909"]We got there about 2 and half hours in, it was very miserable, cold and wet, we found a good spot to wait for the guys to go past and it was drama from the off... PVT cycled past shouting "NEW BIKE.. QUICK... !!!" so we drove off to set his new bike up and change it for him... his other one had a gear failiure and he had been holding the gear lever in position for about 2 hours!

Would that be a Campagn "Oh No" failure? "Cheap" :P  eastern european tat!

Bunker!

Loose screw :!: - I've already sacked the mechanic

[quote="Robert"]Great pics!!! What a curious off load by TOMTOM, or should that be the nearly man!? Can no one ride a 12Hr without changing bike or Kit? :o I only removed my titfer once onto the finishing circuit.

Robert,
The screw came loose and eventually dropped out that holds the gear lever in position. Having spent 2 hours holding the gear lever in position, otherwise it thunked into the 12 as soon as I let go, I decided I would do better on a fully functional bike - otherwise I wouldn't have - and I'm sure you would have done the same.

That doesn`t explain the curious offload  , though I know I`ve taken a bottle with my right when offered up on the left side - that was at my first national 12. 8)

OK then, if explanation is in order - scheduled for food pickup - taking drink in right hand, when Mark appeared out of nowhere with a fresh bottle, so chosing to take on board more fluid decided to jetison the bottle as I was returning it to the cage so zipped it between my legs (so to speak) :D

Late postscript to the '12':
Last night, Andrew treated his Mum and Dad 12-Hour helper team  to a fine meal at a new ACC favoured place, the Sangri Indian restaurant at South Croydon, right opposite the Half and Half pub. Excellent food, beautifully served, faultless service, good ambiance, even had Tiger beer. Top restaurant critic marks from us, and big thanks to Andrew.
Memo to PVT: Keep working on him to ride another '12', Paul. He gave us some c**p about ' Never again!'. This just after finishing, after a rough old day. Got to be another before too long ...
