MID WEEK RUN..wed 24 Sept 3.30pm at Starbucks interested??

Postby Fabobiker » Sun Sep 07, 2008 6:34 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm posting for next week, it'll be wed 24 Sept at 3.30 pm meeting at the Starbucks on the A23 past Coulsdon on the left hand side
for a mid-week run approx 25/30 miles
below you'll find a description of the run I've done this week, but you can suggest different routes.
:)
Cheers, Fabo

Start up towards Chipstead valley rd, Walton on hill, Headley Tot hill down up down to A24 for a bit, then left turn to climb
BOX HILL and then back towards Kingswood and down Chipsted valley road to Coulson and A23 to Starbucks.
It comes up to 33 miles which took me 2 hours.

Hi everyone,

We were talking about this on Saturday at the cafe' stop, but some of the guys, myself included, are interested in going for a bike ride, maybe
mid week...the weather forecast seems to be sunny for this wednesday (10 Sept '08) I'll be available at 3.30 pm.
If anyone is interested, post here on the forum and we'll get organised.
:)
Cheers, Fabo

Good idea to get a ride in on Wednesday. If those chaps at CERN have got their sums wrong it might be the last chance. The End is Nigh

I used to live just above the main CERN loop!

Did you see the CERN rap (on youtube)?

I have a DJ-ing friend who works there he said he was part of it, but I can't recognize him anywhere in the video

The black hole controversy has been going on for a while now

I worked at CERN briefly in the late 80's ( I'm a mathematician).
Actually creating mico-singularities (black holes) is one of the aims of the project since if you can stop them vanishing almost immediately by holding them in a gravitational field, all sorts of interesting things are possible, like time travel.

You can suggest a route, as I don't know the area enough.... but my idea of training it would be
to do about 25/35 miles max, starting flat, going to slightly hillier,
including Box Hill (I like hills even though at the moment I'm suffering for the lack of milage in my legs) and back.
The meeting point could be Starbucks cafe' on the A23 past Coulsdon on the left hand side....?
I come out from Gattom Bottom rd which is just before Merstham...so I'd have to come back a bit, unless you
coming down that direction to start towards Merstham, then into the countryside.

How does this sounds?

I am impressed! Where did you live, French or Swiss side?

Sounds fine, as long as you avoid the black holes.

Just checked on a map, if doing a circle starting Starbucks to Merstham - Reigate - Box Hill - Kingswood - Chipstead - Coulsdon
it would be approx 20 miles, but considering the hills... :?:

That's only an option anyway, some of you more experienced local riders can suggest different route...

I'm interested in a ride to Box Hill at around this time on Wednesday as I have a funeral to go to in the morning and have the day off work to attend so all things considered should be around at this time. A quick blast up the chipstead valley road through Kingswood to Box Hill sounds like a good idea to me and then back.

I could meet you at Starbucks if thats easiest Fabo at 3:30 say.
