My terrific visit to the Clubroom 15/12/2004

Postby Nick » Thu Dec 16, 2004 1:14 am

I went to the club room last night and what an experince I had. Even though there was NONE OF THE REGULAR RIDERS there. I managed to speak to most of the older riders from Addiscombes history and also looked at the archive book dating from 1938-1951? and what great reading it made. To see Addiscombe riders beating and holding RECORDS in all aspects of riding, this also enabled me to an insight into the GOOD OLD DAYS OF CYCLING. It was so interesting chatting to Chris, Joyce and others. There was three particular things that stuck in my head and that was:-
1. How lovely the ladies looked in the riding gear
2. How fashion has changed. I.E. Eddie Mundy and others sporting fasionable cyling wear. It consisted of as loose fitting top a pair of long socks tucked into a pair of wide trousers. (Eddie informed me his where made from his old Navy bell bottoms). I didn't want to seem rude but it made me laugh then I looked at myself sitting there in a pair of tights...
3. A rider from Addiscombe took a pair of tights and cut the legs off and used them as stockings and he quoted something along the lines of " I think I may have started a new fasion here" again there I am looking at my tights....

So to all the regular riders on the weekends lets make sometime in the new year for the midweek meetings and have some chit chat, with the older riders as well others we all may learn something and also knowing more about the club will certainly make you more PROUD as I know I now am.

Addiscombe Cycling Club was and is a great cycling club so lets keep it going.

All my Thanks to All the People there last night and hope to see others in there in 2005............
We pay as members for the use of the hall so LETS ALL USE IT.....

Lets have some positive feedback as to who will be using the club room as of next year 2005
