Retro testing

Which got me thinking - how about an "Athletes 10" as one of our club events next year?

Sad as it is I remember racing before all the kit came in (well actually skinsuits were about). From memory there seemed alot less to worry about because you just took your road bike and went and raced. The only time I did anything different was to put tubs on for the North Road Hardriders. Punctured after 19 miles so there you go, I believe that was the year that Boardman became the first person to beat the hour on that course, those were the days blah blah blah

Sorry, where was I, sounds good, would also be a way to get others racing for the first time as they wouldn't have to worry about having flash kit!!

In a related matter I've just got the startsheet for the Festival 10 on Saturday. They do a road bike only (no aero aids) category so I've entered twice, nip round as number 3 on my road bike and then grab the TT bike and go off last man . Won't be a true one against t'other test as I probably won't be all out on the road bike or I might die halfway round the 2nd time. for some reason I'm the only person doing this .

On the Holmwood course but different HQ to normal, this one's by Beare Green so hopefully I've got time to switch bikes .

No clipless pedals; friction shifters; no plastic bikes; no more than 10 gears .

Why not spice up the President's 10 by making it an 'athletes' race? Unless of course there are plans to make it a BMX event

How many folk in ACC could race under these arcane restrictions I wonder....? I don't got no bike that would meet yer criteria

Yes you have Snoop. Without it being too retro if you don't have a fixie then you just use your road bike without a pointy hat, skinsuit, deep wheels, computer, or HRM. Plastic bikes would have to be allowed unfortunately or numbers would be low.

Can't see him on the startsheet this year, even the once. The plus of being last off second time out is that no-one can catch me .
