Paul there is no way I will be able to keep up with the A race; anyway it's already agreed that the women get to race in the B's.

In any case, even if you are a 2nd Cat woman, you get to race with the 4th Cat blokes in a proper race.

Anyway, reason I am free is because of this

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7757

Means I can no longer race in the 3/4W at Chertsey anymore 8)

Anybody got any donations to boost the prize kitty for our intrepid road racers this saturday?

All donations will be much appreciated - just bring anything you can contribute along on the day. Unwanted pressies, stuff you bought but wished you hadn't. Anything accepted as long as its unused and worth breaking away on the last lap for.

Beer prizes are always appreciated as is food and hard cash

I've got some DVDs, books, socks, magazines, ProCyling mangaer 2008 games, High5 and bottles so far.

Star prize is a detachable Helmet Hero video camera "OOOhhhhhhhh" worth £125 - tv quality vid and 3MP stills from the top of your lid - so you can film people on the club run from within the pack and show them how rubbish their descending is.

I'm tempted to give this away to the most impressive rider on the day rather than just the elite-race winner, so even if peeps in the B race impress the judges you could be the winner!

Hello,

i would like to ride on saturday (i have read a about 5 pages from this thread and have figured out,

i am a member so that is ok,
i don't have a BC number but hopefully we can get round that,
i have a club top but it is a winter one i'll bring it with me but it might be too warm to ride in
i have never done a road race before so i'd like to be in the newby race
we meet at about 8.30 in the usual spot
that bloke on page 2 or so is a right one if he won't turn up unless he can be in the B race, put him in a race on his own,

please can i race? could someone send me a post code of where the race is so i can get myself there if i'm late.

would it not be easyier to have the basic details on a single page? or i just lazy?

As it is a club members only race then it is preferable to race in club kit. Personally I see no problem in riding in plain kit if you do not own an Addiscombe jersey. The issue with kit in TTs for example is that you do not ride in pro/team kit of a team you are not a member of (a CTT reg), and as a matter of courtesy if you are riding a club TT as a 2nd claim or guest then you ride in plain kit rather than your current 1st claim club/team kit.

This second bit seems to have gone by the wayside in recent years but then I'm an old fashioned sort.

All socks must be white regardless of the jersey you wear.

no problem, i don't usually bother with socks i trade them for my mrs's lucky knickers but if that is the rule then i'm in,

I don't own any white socks - does that mean I can't come and play ? ? :)

Won't all wearing the same kit make it very difficult to tell the placings, surely we should all come dressed as different pro teams so as to avoid finish line confusion. I can see it now, who came 3rd and who came 4th, well he was wearing yellow and black.

Is the race a particular distance or is it just based on time?

Cheers

Make sure you force a breakaway then to make the judging easier at the finish. We've had no problem judging for the last two years why do you think this year will be different? :D [quote="Marek"]Is the race a particular distance or is it just based on time?
It should be roughly and hour and a bit - see first post

I was thinking of wearing my old army gear complete with SA80 assault rifle and half a dozen flash bang grenades and hopefully win the most aggressive rider prize, my only concern is I'll be to well camouflaged and wont get seen :|
