Cyclocross London League team champs Sunday 6th Feb

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

I'm doing a running race on that day so won't be able to take part.

However, would recommend the team champs cyclo x event. It's the last race on the 'cross calendar and all the league events have finished by then, so tends to be a kind of last day at school/end of season fun affair.

I did it last year as part of a women's team and had a good time. It's less competitive and even though it's the last race, for quite a few it's their first dabble in cyclo x. Mountain bikers are welcome - they might even let you wear fancy dress if you get the urge !

what does it involve? mountain bike over what kind of terrain?

I could be tempted to make up numbers, especially if its going to be more fun than serious hard core racing

Over not-too-technical off-road terrain (made a bit trickier if it's wet), with a few ups and downs and some road sections that you will love :)

I guess we'd be lucky to even get a team together, so I'm not fussed if we do it for the fun of it.

I'll try convince Aodan to be the 4th wheel of the trailer ...

Jayne was keener on taking photos than racing and my knee was feeling good so it didn't take much convincing for me to race and hand over the camera (despite not having my acc jersey). We all had a good race and the team finished in 9th place.

Great pics Jayne !

Looking at the photos it looks as the course was the same as what they used for the inter area champs a few weeks before - you jump over 2 planks, remount on a false flat, carry on up, down and then back up doubling back on yourself, followed by a sharp right hand turn on a tricky fast descent onto the tarmac (without over shooting it and crashing into the bush below) - along the tarmac and then walk up a really steep medium length bank - and that was only the start of the lap ! Was that the same course you did ?

Well done lads !

I can't draw or trace, so I'll just take your word for it that it wasn't the same course !

By the way when are you going to Sweden for the Vasaloppet ? It must be soon now.
Are you ready for it ? I suppose if you're not feeling strong enough you can always get special dispensation to do half the distance. Only trouble is you'll have to race with all the women ! Among all those Scandinaviennes eh - won't life be tough !
