Pilates

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

OK folks - I will make contact with Adam now he's back. ACC committee gave me the lanterne verte to go and buy the stuff - there is still a minor problemette in that we have nowhere to store it (I think sorry couldn't nake last night's committee mtg so I may be wrong on that).

Apologies for not focussing on this but with Adam away I put it on back burner. Then when I got back from hols there were a whole bunch of marshalling plans I'd put in place unravellin faster than a poorly knitted cardie that needed urgent attention. Will get back on the case early next week and update everyone

Cheers - Snoop

Regarding storage Snoop:
Are we talking just mats?
Are they just like exercise mats, i.e. foam rubber that you roll up?
How many mats would we be looking at?

If the first 2 are a yay, and the last one is no more than 10 then I can probably keep them in my loft. Obviously on weeks when I couldn't do pilates someone would have to arrange to collect them a day or two beforehand so it's not ideal.

yeah pilates mats can be rolled up. as exercise mats go they tend to be on the thicker side - 1cm or more - so as to give an adequate level of cushioning for your spine.

another thing that you may need (that i often use in the classes i do) is a foam block that you use to raise a part of your body if you can't quite stretch it into the right position...

for example you may need to sit on a foam block if you are doing an exercise where you sit with your legs out in front of you but find it difficult to hold the position because of (a typical cyclist's) tight hasmtrings.

So - getting round to focussing on this (about bloomin time  ). Before I get back in touch with Adam.....

Can I start with a list of people who are willing to commit to this on a regular basis? So far I think we have:

Snoop
Andrew G
Marky Mark
Huw
Alan M
Conor
Rob C
Adrian
Guru Paul
Tamar

Have I missed anyone  who was in at at the start and who wants to continue..? Please let me know. The max class size is 15. ACC committee has agreed to fund the purchase of the equipment and I shall liaise with Adam on this.

If we get 15 people then the cost will be £48 per person for an 8 week block of lessons, it goes up a bit (to £60) if we don't hit the magik 15. The 15 would need to pay this up front and then, if someone can't make a session it falls to them to either let it slide or get a sub.

Plan is to start early October (hall availablility permitting) from memory it would have to be an 8.30pm start (say 8.15 for 8.30 so we can crack straight on) which I think we need to agree to stick to, so if you're late - tough

OK? Any questions?

Hi Snoop

Couple of Q's

Where about is this being held?

Is there spaces available still?

In light of recent injuries I think I need to limber up a little and could well be interested if this is convenient for me

Cheers

good questions:

1 - in the hall where ACC club meetings take place. It's in Addiscombe near the roundabout where the old Lesley Arms pub used to be (any good to you as a landmark?).

2 - initially the agreement reached was to hold this open to those who first got in touch. I feel like I should leave that door open over the weekend so let's see where we are Monday. I'll make you 1st reserve 8)

Bummmpppp

It appears we have eleven people confirmed for this (inc Mr Locky....)

Clearly that's not enough to secure Adam's lower rate. Not a problem for me just thought I'd mention it. Upside of a smaller class is he's more likely to spot my cluelessness and help put it right.

Any more for any more....?
