No Snoop £6.50, it's only £13 for tandems, i.e. £6.50 per person.
700 yards Sean, so on price per mile you could say hill climbs are more expensive than other TTs (still need the same level of organisation and overheads though). It does have a much higher prize pot though, along with the Catford HC the richest events in the World I think per yard or metre (depending whether you are metric or not
).
If it is VFM you are after then you need to enter a few 100 mile TTs next year Sean as they are still only £7, and the 12hr was only £15 - bargain
.
Adam - I don't know the Bec prize pot yet but it has been similar to the Catford the last few years, which is...
[quote="Catford HC organiser"]Come and compete in the oldest hill climb in the world – Over £1100 in prizes.
First run in 1887, the modern version has been held on Yorks Hill near Sevenoaks, Kent since 1939 and the event record of 1min. 47.6 secs was set by Phil Mason (San Fairy Ann CC) in 1983.
Last year’s event was won by Dan Fleeman (Blue Sky Cycles.) in 1min 48.2 secs.
The Catford event is one of the events which form the week-end’s ‘4 Hill Climb’s Competion’. The winner of the £100 prize in 2007 was Chris Mcnamara of Wildside R.T.
As its 25years since Phil Mason broke the record for the San Fairy Ann Cycling Club we would like to thank them for their kind donation of £250.00. The winner could walk away with a prize in excess of £650.00
Prizes 1st to 6th. We would like to thank `Rapha`for their generous donation of quality cycling clothing - Prize for fastest - Woman; Veteran; Junior; Mountain Biker; and a `Lantern Rouge` prize of £10. £60 Team prize donated by `Vaz Cycle Finishers`
BTW if you want to win the Bec HC you'll need to get up White Lane in less than 1 minute 50 seconds (and that won't guarantee top spot).
If you can climb steep hills very quickly then money can be made on hill climbs as they have had really generous prize pots lately. The Wigmore one Doug is promoting in Kent has £600 of prizes on offer too. They do get seriously fast climbers though so you have to beat the likes of Dan Fleeman and Jody Crawforth.
