NHRC 25

Myself, Terry and Steve Davies down for this. Nice warm day but a bit windier than I expected. Not as fast a day as the 50 that was held in May. Started off well and just tried to keep it steady and not get carried away as I did in the Presidents 10. Seemed to work and kept away from the big gears. The majority of it was done on 53 X15/14. It still amazes me how many people you see in really big gears not going very fast :?

Passed a few people, I was off 31 and only just saw 30 at each of the turns so he was slowly pulling away from me. Thought I had misjudged the finish but hadn't and got the last effort just right. Had a quick chat with Terry on my way out of the car park, having had orders to get home pronto and take wife and children out. He said he blew a bit towards the end but as he said it was certainly better than sitting watching TV.

A PB by 48 seconds of 57.30 so pleased. I honestly don't think I could have gone much faster.

Back on the same course tomorrow for another crack though :D

A nice day indeed, there was a niggling little crosswind on the finishing leg but apart from that very nice. Taking time checks from the 10marker and starting point, I calculated that I was about 2mins up on my pb, just needed to ride nice and steady for the last 10.5 miles and I would be a happy bunny.

The know the marathon runners call it hitting the wall, but i`ve never experienced that before,-there is two little rises with about 3miles to go, only bumps really-first circuit, cruised over them around 19mph or so, but this time couldn`t really manage double figures and I never recovered and grovelled over the line a physical wreck in 1-5:54

Well done to Dom, who is obviously flying, and Steve, who managed a mid-58, with a broken gear cable, he navigated the said bumps that did for me in a huge gear. He said it may of cost him a minute or so.

Richard Prebble won with a 51 something. Awesome.

Yes, I was on a comfortable sub 58 minute ride when my gear cable snapped with about 3.5 miles to go. As I ride with a single chainring this left me stuck in 54x12 for the last section into the wind and including the hardest rise on the course - a truly leg bending experience. Still it was a pleasant afternoon if a little windy and I was happy with my time (58:36) all things considered.

Well done to Dom with his PB.
