Any peeps bring some brooms and muscle to sweep the corners?

I can sort this out on Friday afternoon - it's on my way home from work.

Job done.

Firstly, a big thank-you to all the organisers and helpers. It was an excellent morning.

My photos aren't up to Sylv's usual high standards, but here they are anyway.

Once again it was a beautiful day. A few people deserve a mention. As far as I'm concerned without Mr Paul Tunnel the whole event would not have been possible. Go and do a search and find out how many clubs (so called road racing ones too) put on Club RR Championships and if they do, are they on the road? I don't think you'll find any. Thanks once again Paul - you were brilliant :D :D :D .
The next mention has to go to Huw Williams, for presenting and providing such fantastic prizes I think some of the prizes were better than any Road Race or even continental Sportiv Events. Cheers Mate. Also I gotta say big thanks to Keith for making the circuit safe by turning into a road sweeper for an evening; A big chapeau has to go to outrider and general sage Keith K; John as the lead driver and finally big thanks to the following agreeable people : President Joyce :D :D ; Anthloony's girlfriend, Ann; MrsTunnel, Sean, Tim, Stephanie :D and any of the racers that marshalled...Oh and of course all the competitors who made both races great. With only a couple of people dropped in both races I think we just about got the group abilities right. Please write your reports no matter how well you did and any constructive critism is welcome. I know some of the guys outside of the top 3 would like to know their placings so if anyone knows where they came relative to the top 3 positions please let us know. Cheers I've been your ACC Members only Road Race communications officer Toks Adesanya :D :D

A big thanks from me too for all those who helped and organised it, including the tea and cake afterwards. For a novice at this it certainly made me appreciate the effort and contribution required to make it an enjoyable and safe event, and particularly impressed with the professionalism of the out riding. I had to head home sharpish so missed the prize giving, so not aware of the final positions (and who got the alternative prizes). I know Anthony took 1st in the B race - well deserved from his big break at the end - congrats, followed by Brian in 2nd, but who took 3rd?

Thanks Toks, Paul and Huw as well as all the marshalls and helpers such as Tim.

Great fun albeit that I came off the back of the bunch after only a lap and a half. I spent the next 4 laps reeling someone else in who had also fallen off the back. As such, still a good workout, or should that be "a personal struggle of titanic proportions" or some such.

Thanks again to all for their great efforts.

Anyone for a "C" Race next year? As to your separate thread on 2009 targets Toks, mine is to finish in the bunch!

The placings.

I was standing at the finish of the A race and took a little video clip of the run-in. I'll try to load it onto youtube but it's a bit big so might not work. (Anybody know of a freebie video editor for mp4 files ?)

From what I can see these are the placings :

1 yellow shirt
2 yellow shirt
3 yellow shirt
4 yellow shirt
5 yellow shirt
6 yellow shirt
7 yellow shirt
8 yellow shirt
9 red & black shirt
10 yellow shirt
11 yellow shirt

Maybe, just for the club road race, riders should be encouraged not to wear addiscombe shirts. (Running for the bunker)

More seriously, here's more details (I guess you can add your name if you recognise yourself)

1 Adam
2 Stu
1"
3 Steve shadow ?
4 Black helmet & shorts, Blue & white frame, blue tyres?
5 White helmet, Red fork, addisc shorts
6 sky blue helmet, red tyres, white frame
7 Black helmet, shorts & frame, deep rims
8 White helmet & frame, black shoes, addisc. shorts

4"
9 red & black shirt

5"
10 Yellow helmet, BORA on front wheel

10"
11 Red and black shorts, white frame

Thanks to all that made the event a most enjoyable affair. It was good fun taking part in a road race. Having now done a race you can appreciate how difficult it is to cycle and corner at speed. The A race made it look easy. It is good that the Club gave us the opportunity to race, a most memorable experience. I hope to be back next year and take first place. I was amazed that I got second. I will have to practice my sprints on the club runs.

Weird - 200-odd posts about this beforehand, and a mere smattering after the event.

I was gutted to miss this - I was really looking forward to it. Our baby got given a cold by (the horror) someone else's baby last week and we all had a torrid night on Friday as a result. So that was that.

Sounded like a great day - would like to hear more about it and see the placings. Well done to everyone, especially Toks, Paul T and Huw for promoting and organising.

Not much to report really other than it was an excellent day graced with amazing weather and good racing.

As Joyce said on the way back, as a race organiser you want a quiet, almost boring event cos that means nobody's crashed, complained about anything or raised any issue that were difficult to deal with on the day.

So in that sense we had a great day AND had the bonus of some superb racing to watch form the sidelines. The standard has noticeably improved from 12 months ago and it was clear that even in the B race there were some pretty experienced racers.

The A race was tremendous to watch, with several attempts at breakaways and organized responses to chase them down - lots of different riders were active throughout and Adam was eventually a great winner as he was pretty much in control of things for the whole race.

Now, for next year we need to know the thoughts of everyone who was there to keep things moving forward, so if you raced, marshaled, spectated or supported a rider tell us how it was for you. EG - Is it better on the road than at a circuit like Hillingdon. Is it the right circuit or do you want something with a hill in it? Should there be a 'C' race
Let us know your thoughts and we'll keep improving the event

Feedback - thanks for organising the great weather – this was probably one of the crucial things to get right to make an enjoyable day for riders and helpers (oh the enjoyment of marshalling in the rain). Course; mainly a nice road surface and only a few turns, all of which were simple left turns. I think a slightly hillier course next time near the finish? Might make it less suited to Adam ;). KeithK was excellent on the motorbike, not sure about the B race, where I was marshalling a corner with Tim but for the A race one or two more marshals at the corners were needed I think but those who did marshal our race did a great job.

The tea and cakes were also much appreciated afterwards. Thanks to all those who donated prizes as well and who worked behind the scenes (Toks, Paul T Huw and others)

I really enjoyed the race itself and felt it was hard enough, and felt like a race rather than a club run or training ride, with all of the breaks going and subsequent high acceleration chasing down. Adam was vocal in trying to organise this and can’t blame him as he’d have been aiming for a sprint finish and it wouldn’t have been a good race if we’d let a break go early just so a 1st claim could win (hint, maybe throw in a hill next time for Adam to drag his big legs over – might slow him down). I cramped right at the end coming towards the finish hence my drift in over the finish line. Too much work on the way out? One too many accelerations? Maybe I need to do a few longer rides, my commute and Palace have been my mainstay over the season.

Other things, I joined the ACC group at CSS for the ride out, I think we left it a bit tight leaving at 8:45am for the B race although Dan and myself took the front as we’d have time to recover for the A race.

On the way back I joined Alan M et al for the cycle back and lost them near godstone (were we to regroup at the pond at the bottom of the hill?) I waited a bit but then I made my way home via the A23 or (A22?) through Chatterham and onto purley then back to familiar roads. Home by 2:30pm, so not too bad as left just after 1pm.
