Now then...

Friday night: I'd suggest dinner in the Bugle as soon as you can get there

Saturday ride:
Assemble outside the Bugle at 9.45-10am for a prompt start. We will attempt to ride in some semblance of a group at least as far as the lunch stop. Do NOT follow Mr Tunnell up the hill out of Yarmoth at 28mph unless you want an unnecessary diversion down toward the needles where there is nothing of interest to see. The rest of us will carry on directly to Freshwater and join the very scenic coastal road to Blackgang Chine.

If you want to ride in faster/slower groups, there are signs marking the route around the whole island - though you might end up on slightly different roads on a couple of occasions than those of us who know the best roads. I'd suggest you look at a map of the island in advance for a rough idea of where you're going - the route we take (PVT diversions notwithstanding) is about 64 miles

Lunch stop:
There's a pub/cafe on the sea front in a town called Seaview which is in the '2-0'clock' position just after Bembridge as you look at the map. Just ride down the hill as far as you can go until you taste salt water in your mouth and you can't miss it.

Saturday dinner:
It's not possible to get a big table for dinner at the Bugle for everyone as they have a private function on in the restaurant saturday night.

Based on last year's experience this is no bad thing as everyone came back from the ride at various times and in various states of hunger and needed to eat really early anyway. So I suggest that post ride just get in there (or anywhere else you fancy) and eat as soon as possible - bear in mind that it's saturday and places will get busy later on. I believe there's a restaurant at Jirah House where some of you are staying so you might want to check with them if they can do tables or there are plenty of other swanky restaurants in town and pubs that serve food too. Remember Yarmouth is about half the size of Charlwood so you can't stray too far.

Then we'll all re-convene in the Bugle bar as early as possible to get on with the serious business of hot political debate and the scientific testing of fluid ingress rates specific to intricate timing devices when immersed in ethyl-alcohol.

Any questions please post here and we'll do our best etc etc

Will there be an opportunity for a dip in the sea? I need to know whether to pack my budgie smugglers.

Following PVT out of Yarmouth at 28mph last year we all nearly ended up in the sea

There's always a chance of a dip at Cowes if you fail to make the chain ferry

Mags and I are on the 7:00 ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, so I expect we will be in the Bugle and ready for food at 8:30.

Locky and I arrive around lunchtime on Friday so we may still be finishing lunch when you get there for dinner.

I expect everyone is sorted for transport by now....but if anyone needs a lift then Keith and I are leaving Croydon at 6.15 on Friday - there's room in the car for 2 if you don't mind the bikes outside on the rack...or 1 with the bikes inside and minimal luggage.

We're returning on the 5pm ferry on Sunday so would be back in London around 7.30 unless we stop for food en route.

Can you get your seaweed out Mike, the weather forecast I've seen doesn't look too spiffing for Saturday - pack your longs and waterproofs  .
