Here's some stats for you !!

If you had purchased £1000 of Northern Rock shares one year ago it would now be worth £4.95,

with HBOS, earlier this week your £1000 would have been worth £16.50

£1000 invested in XL Leisure would now be worth less than £5,

but if you bought £1000 worth of Tenants Lager one year ago, drank it all, then took the empty cans to an aluminum re-cycling plant, you would get £214. 8)

So based on the above statistics the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and re-cycle.

HBOS would be worth £165, assuming you'd bought 100 shares about a year ago at a tenner a pop. Dividend of 31p and sale of your nil paid rights earlier this year would have put you about evens with the lager drinker. Add to that the keen interest in all matters financial your share ownership would have given you, and the HBOS shares beat the grog as a source of both wealth and entertainment.

And if you'd spent £1000 a bicycle, you'd still have it to ride around on. Therefore, clearly the best way to invest your money is on a bicycle. In fact, with the skills and brains in the ACC, can we not establish a market in collateralised bicycle derivative instruments? Their future value is likely to be impacted depending on the price of petrol, the weather, the level of success at the Olympics, the number of people on the ACC clubruns etc. We could have different instruments depending upon where the bicycles were sourced. If backed by GB Cycles, we could give them a AAA rating. However, if handbuilt by Stu What's that bit for? Chamberlaine, I think we'd have to go with a junk rating. :D

Do you think we've got a viable product here?

Hee hee ... Stu would you mind having a look at George's bike, see if there are any unnecesary bits on it you could get rid of, before Sunday's cx trophy round?

I wouldn't bother asking Stu to have a look, I seemed to remember he removed his chain while racing at Palace, not one of his best ideas to date. :D

A simple depreciation index can be found with Sage and some add-on. I cant remember the name buts it on all the computers at home, except this blasted iMac which hates me.

i reckon that if Tennents do use aluminium cans you'd have actually earned about £12, assuming you'd got the full cans at 50p each.

if they actually use steel, as do Coke, maybe a fiver.

sorry.

ps can you dig out a lock ring for me please if your going tomorrow on the off chance I'll be there. Cheers.
