I guess I'd be a bit annoyed too if my bike time was 2 minutes faster than the 40-44 winner! Paul that run time of yours is still not too shabby do you think you can train to do better?

I could get into duathlon myself - swimming being what's putting me off triathlon.

That is an awesome result, your run times are very impressive. Dan Corner was 9th and he is a top class Duathlete, I believe he has won the Ballbuster in the past. You were not far off his time, very impressive.

Cheers

Marek....

Thanks Andrew
Adam- i had a terrible race. My running was not up to much, bad cramp in the right hammy on the second run
Also,on the bike split my right extension bar came loose so i had to permantly hold it in place, which meant i couldn't take on fluids or gel
I came 40/92 in my AG (35-39) so pretty dissapointed, but thats not to say if i had a good race i would be near paul.H-amazing result
But thats enough moaning, the event was fantastic,i really enjoyed the whole day, apart from the pain, and managed get out and climb a mountain or two amongst taking in the best food and coffee in the world in le marche where i stayed for a week after the race :D
Cheers

Thanks

I didnt post my results as it is not Road Racing or TT - actually I couldnt be bothered.

I was hoping for a medal and was a bit dissapointed with my first run but not bad for my first time I suppose. Next time I want to win and anything less than bronze would be less than satisfactory.

According to someones Garmin the course was
10.6k Run
42.5k Bike
5k Run

I only started running at the end of October last year doing one 30min session a week to start off with so I am expecting my run time to improve significantly by next year.

I reckon you would be good a Duathlons. The training is good fun and weight is very important for runners. I now train with South London Harriers in Coulsdon, you should come down and give it a go. You can do the Europeans with me next year in Budapest.

Cheers

Cool. As of now I only run for cross-training about 1-1.5h a week and not really pushing it, and have only ever done 1*1 mile, 3*5km, 2*10km and 1 half marathon as racing. So would like to see if I can improve.

Doubt I'll manage to keep the HR to under 150 though :)

BTW that 1-mile race was murder - but awesome, last month. Took place in the City in small back alleyways and taking staircases and stuff. 10-member team relay, 100 teams altogether. Didn't have much of a warm-up. Couldn't find an adequate breathing rythm, usually I use 1/2-3/4 or 1/2-3 based on footsteps, but that wasn't fast enough so I was doing 1-2 breathe in-out but that was a bit too fast to keep up with.

Finished in 5"15 or 74th/950, lungs killing me, the fastest guy did 4"19 unbelievable! My sprint is even worse than cycling, passed two guys with 200m to go but they passed me again in the final 50m ...
