Hillingdon Winter Series 2008/9

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Likewise, so If I get a Racing License its best to wait till the end of November, early December.

I may use one or two of these as an 'Armstrongesque' opportunity to test the form in late December, early Jan. Before the real racing starts later on.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]There is no, will he , won't he. I have already applied for BC membership. I am getting a RL, but will wait till as close to the year start as possible. As the RL kicks off on 01/01/09, or so I've been told that means I might need to either pay up front for a few days at Hillingdon, or pay for the full year and start at Hillingdon in January.
Good man, so what other 4th cat/newbies are gonna join Sean then? :D

Well, after reading this thread, I'm very officially thinking about it :D
So I suppose we've got to get BC membership now and pay the "fine" for the races till the end of the year, right?

Nicolas, you can wait till 01/01/09. Why pay £15 for maybe two or three races at best and then have to pay another £30 for the new year?

Yes, but I suppose you have to be a BC member to enter the race anyway (even without a RL if you pay the "fine"), so joining BC now (I'm not a member yet) and then getting a 2009 RL from 01/01 sounds like a good idea. Isn't it what you are planning to do Sean?

BC bronze membership comes with a provisional racing license included, which allows you to race on closed circuits. So you can still do the 2008 races for practice/training, you just don't get any points if you do any good.

I'm sure that Keith and I got our licences in late November/ December 2007 and they said they were for the 2008 season, so it meant we could race in the Imperial Winter Season at Hillingdon in December without having to pay any more, and the points all counted in 2008 as well.

I'm going to do the winter series at Hoghill for the simple reason that I reckon its a bit easier to get to than Hillingdon. The, no doubt flawed, plan is to hop on the train to London Bridge, ride over to Liverpool Street get on another train and end up somewhere in Essex.

Hopefully I shall be there for the 1st race to bag myself a good result. All I got to do is sit near the front of the pack, wait for the sprint then open up the taps and I'm gone, hopefully towards a podium finish. Not had a good sprint for a while but if saturdays club run is anything to go by I'm looking in good shape :D

Remember Ant, it will be all over the place at Hillingdon with the 4ths. Be prepared to have to use your elbows.

Based on my experience of 4th cat races at Hillingdon, be prepared to have your elbow dislocated
